Peter Dinklage's first look in 'The Toxic Avenger', revealed

Peter Dinklage's first look in The Toxic Avenger is out! This upcoming film is a remake of OG The Toxic Avenger film franchise by Lloyd Kaufmann. Actor Peter Dinklage shall be playing the lead role as Winston Gooze a.k.a. The Toxic Avenger. The film is slated to be released in the United States this year on August 29, 2025.

Helmed by Macon Blair, The Toxic Avenger was first screened two years back in 2023, at Fantastic Fest.

The Toxic Avenger follows the plot of a janitor, whose life takes a 360-degree turn post a fatal, unusual hazard. The accident enables him to transform into a heroic monstrous entity, and hence, the birth of 'The Toxic Avenger' takes place.

The intriguing first look of Peter Dinklage in the avatar of The Toxic Avenger is out, as revealed by Entertainment Weekly. It is also revealed that the movement artist and actor Luisa Guerreiro is contributing to the bodily performance aspect, beneath the layers of the character's outfit and makeup.

About the look of The Toxic Avenger or 'Toxie', director Macon Blair had spoken to Entertainment Weekly in 2023. Back then, in the trailer, we witness a delineation of Toxie.

Blair shed light on the fact that their design of Toxie is adjacent to the original imagination of it, as he explains:

"His look is closer to that, and in terms of color palette we drew from the cartoon actually,"

"But it's practical effects. You can see all the goopy little boils and stuff like that. And we definitely stayed true to some of the really iconic elements: the tutu that's melted onto his body, the janitor's mop as his super weapon."

When Macon Blair was asked in the interview about his vision in the forthcoming The Toxic Avenger, he elucidates:

"The goal was to try to stay true to the vibe of Lloyd's original Jennifer Aspinall/Mitch Cohen creature, with some influence from the Toxic Crusaders cartoon's look, while also trying to do something new and weird and lovable with Toxie's design. I love what Millenium FX did with it — part human, part mutant, all heart."

This upcoming The Toxic Avenger film is the fifth part of the whole The Toxic Avenger film franchise. Its first film came in the year 1984, named The Toxic Avenger. The last released film of this series was back in the millennial year of 2000, named Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV.

The legacy of The Toxic Avenger, over the ages, has been alive in diverse forms including graphic novels, video games, animated cartoons, and also in the form of a musical theatre.
