As the Stranger Things hype crescendos before the final episodes of the series are released, the audience is eagerly anticipating what's next for the beloved characters from Hawkins, Indiana.

With excitement for the remainder of the series at an all-time high, fans are looking to the cast’s press run for any clues about how the show will ultimately end.

In the most recent news about the Netflix hit, the cast of Stranger Things recently gathered at a screening and subsequent Q&A session at The Paley Museum in New York City. Interestingly, when on the red carpet, Joe Keery (who plays fan-favorite character Steve Harrington on the show) was asked to describe the finale in one word by Entertainment Tonight. His response was telling, if not vague,

“Perfecto”

In the same red carpet interaction, Natalia Dyer said that fans should "bring the tissues" for watching the finale, hinting that the final episode is going to be an emotional ride.

With countless fans of the show being invested in the journeys of their favorite characters, the discourse on social media was varied but emotional. One X user stated,

"Please please please don't make me cry."

Another user added,

“Perfecto, huh? High expectations! Hope they stick the landing after all this time. Joe's always been a good barometer for quality.”

A handful of users took the chance to venture guesses on how Stranger Things Season 5 would end; one X user in particular shared,

"11 finally dies saving Hopper and everyone or sacrifices to save Will. Or Will dies because he will always be connected to Henry."

Some users, however, did not seem impressed, with one X account posting,

"Let me guess someone will make an ultimate sacrifice to end vecna, thus losing one of the main characters and we are all suppose to cry because that's what they think will make good narrative story telling."

Regardless of the varying takes, one X user seemed to perfectly sum up what most of the audience is feeling.

“I’m not prepared at all.”

Stranger Things cast - Paley Museum Q&A

During the Stranger Things Cast’s Q&A at New York’s Paley Museum, some interesting takes were shared by those involved as to what audiences can expect from the final four episodes. When Joe Keery was asked what it felt like to drop the comedic tone in the series’ final run of episodes, the actor provided a thoughtful response.

“It was really ratcheted up right from the beginning of the season and I think that’s because the stakes just feel so high, so coming to work every day and keeping the stakes that high was a challenge. It was always a constant reminder of what we were doing, because the show means a lot to all of us and we wanted to send these characters off well.”

Also in the question and answer period with the Stranger Things cast, Noah Schnapp (who plays Will Byers) was asked about his preparation for scenes in which he can actually manifest some sort of supernatural power. His response was telling of the artistic freedom the Duffer Brothers give their cast when bringing their characters to life.

“The neck got a little tired! The powers were not something I ever experienced or had to work with before. It’s fun because there are no rules. In the script there’s a reference, there’s no guidelines. It just says, ‘Will enters Demo-vision.’ So, how do you do that? It was fun to create and play with that this season.”

Clearly, this is one of the most anticipated series finales in television history. How the audience will ultimately respond to it remains to be seen.
