Possible Love is a forthcoming romantic drama film that will be released on Netflix. South Korean filmmaker Lee Chang-dong will be returning to the director's chair after 2018's Burning.
With Possible Love, Lee will be collaborating with actor Jeon Do-yeon, who had acted in his 2007 directorial, Secret Sunshine. While the working title has been revealed, it is possible that the film's name can be changed in the future. In his long career, Lee has only helmed six films in different genres.
Lee Chang-dong to direct Possible Love for Netflix
Lee Chang-dong will be returning to the director's chair after eight years for Netflix's Possible Love. The film will star Cho Yeo-jeong, Jeon Do-yeon, Zo In-sung, and Sul Kyung-gu. The script was written by Lee and Oh Jung-mi.
It will focus on two married couples who are living lives different from each other. Their lives slowly start to intertwine with each other, which results in problems. Possible Love will be produced by Pinehouse Film Co., Ltd., NOWFILM Co., Ltd, and Anonymous Content, LLC.
The cast includes:
- Jeon Do-yeon as Mi-ok
- Sul Kyung-gu as Ho-seok
- Zo In-sung as Sang-woo
- Cho Yeo-jeong as Ye-ji
In an official statement, Netflix mentioned:
Director Lee Chang-dong has established a distinctive cinematic voice with films such as Green Fish and Peppermint Candy, earning consistent acclaim from global audiences and critics alike. His work is known for its sharp portrayal of the complexities of Korean society, while illuminating universal human experiences through a deeply personal lens. Oasis won the Silver Lion for Best Direction at the 59th Venice Film Festival; Secret Sunshine earned the Best Actress Award at the 60th Cannes Film Festival; and Poetry received the Best Screenplay Award at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival. Burning was selected to compete at the 71st Cannes Film Festival and won the International Critics’ Prize, further cementing his reputation as a world-class storyteller.
The film will mark the fourth collaboration between Sul Kyung-gu and Jeon, after I Wish I Had a Wife, Kill Boksoon, and Birthday. Sul had previously worked with Lee on projects like Oasis and Peppermint Candy.
The makers have yet to set the film's release date on Netflix.
