Project Hail Mary footage revealed at San Diego Comic-Con
At a panel in the San Diego Comic-Con, the makers unveiled several footage from Project Hail Mary. The first five minutes of the film were shown in the presentation to the audience. It showcased Ryan Gosling as Dr. Ryland Grace (a middle school teacher), who wakes up only to find himself inside a spacecraft. He is surrounded by robots. After a point, he screams and asks where he is.
Another footage of Project Hail Mary shows Sandra Hüller talking to Grace right before he sails for space. She asks him to experiment on the alien cells. Then urges him to figure out the workings of a bacterium faster. A third footage showcases an intense moment of Gosling's character figuring out how to function in a zero-gravity environment.
Ryan Gosling spoke to the crowd about the character he played.
“I connected to his reluctance. He’s quite an ordinary person.”
Christopher Miller then said,
"We wanted to do something with Ryan for a long time. This was the most rewarding collaboration of our careers.”
Phil Lord then gives a humorous response to the film's messaging.
“It answers the question, ‘If the universe depends on it, can adult men make friends?'”
