Besides being a director and writer, Tarantino is also a cinephile and often talks about his love for the medium. He is also vocal about his favorite films and directors in Hollywood.Recently, he spoke about Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood, calling out its actor, Paul Dino. He said,"He is the weak sister.”So let us take a look at what Tarantino said about Dino's performance in PTA's 2007 period drama film.Quentin Tarantino calls out Paul Dino for There Will Be BloodQuentin Tarantino recently appeared on the podcast of Bret Easton Ellis, where he spoke about Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood. In that discussion, he had mentioned his top ten favorite films. But the list didn't feature PTA's film. Tarantino explained by praising Anderson and actor Daniel Day-Lewis.“Daniel Day-Lewis. The old-style craftsmanship is evident in the film. It had an old Hollywood craftsmanship without trying to be like that. It was the only film he’s ever done, and I brought it up to him, that doesn’t have a set piece. The fire is the closest to a set piece. This was about dealing with the narrative, dealing with the story, and he did it f*cking amazingly.”He then called out its co-actor, Paul Dino, and labelled him as a weak sister.“‘There Will Be Blood’ would stand a good chance at being #1 or #2 if it didn’t have a big, giant flaw in it … and the flaw is Paul Dano. Obviously, it’s supposed to be a two-hander, but it’s also drastically obvious that it’s not a two-hander. [Dano] is weak sauce, man. He is the weak sister.”Quentin Tarantino then suggested a recasting of the film. He stated that Austin Butler would have fit the part.“Austin Butler would have been wonderful in that role. He’s just such a weak, weak, uninteresting guy. The weakest fcking actor in SAG.”There Will Be Blood was loosely inspired by Upton Sinclair's 1927 book, Oil. The film was written and co-produced by Anderson and received several honors. This includes an Oscar for Daniel Day-Lewis for Best Actor and Robert Elswit for Best Cinematography.Stay tuned to Soap Central for more such stories.
