Brittany Furlan, Tommy Lee's internet influencer wife, recently discussed on her podcast the emotional stresses stemming from a viral catfish scandal. On the last episode of 'This Is The Worst,' which she co-hosts with Brittany Schmitt, Furlan tried to encapsulate what she was feeling and said,
"Relationships are complicated."
That line resonates in every one of her admissions, including how lonely she was in her marriage and her candid account of being the target of a very sophisticated catfishing plot. Only a few weeks prior, she was engaged in an online conversation with someone masquerading as the lead singer of Falling in Reverse, Ronnie Radke. The entire situation spiraled out of control when Radke revealed the DMs on Instagram following private outreach from Tommy Lee.
Brittany Furlan describes her contorted thinking not as rationalization, but rather as an attempt to explain a decision made at one of the lowest points in her emotional spectrum.
“I reached a place of loneliness in my marriage where I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy,” she said on the podcast (via This Is the Worst, June 2025). “I got to a point where I was just so incredibly lonely and we were very disconnected for a very long time.”
While she continues to recognize the responsibility of her actions, she has also strived to make sense of them.
“I took the bait,” she admitted. “Coming from a place of desperate loneliness, you kind of grasp onto any affection or attention that anyone gives you.”
Brittany Furlan's catfish, the fallout, and ChatGPT

Brittany Furlan was seen acknowledging the scandal in a TikTok video posted shortly after Radke went public with it. In her defense, she said that she was indeed conversing with a person she claimed to be Radke on Snapchat.
When Lee went through the conversation and reached out to Radke, the reality of the situation was uncovered, as the messages were not from Radke. For his part, he described it as “creepy” claiming through his Instagram account that he had even called the FBI to discover who the stalker pretending to be Radke was.
Brittany Furlan remarked that the impersonator bore an uncanny resemblance to the actual person due to their understanding of private details regarding her relationship with Lee.
“They knew the ins and outs of my relationship, which is really weird… They were like, ‘I know you’ve been with your husband for a while, I know he drinks a lot,’” she shared on the podcast.
Furlan reported that she had been trying to cope with the feeling of being distant before the incident. She claimed that she tried speaking to multiple therapists and sought other, more constructive ways to fulfill her emotional needs. Among her more astonishing coping strategies was responding to her emotions with artificial intelligence.
“I asked ChatGPT for words of affirmation,” she revealed, “just to feel appreciated and loved.”
