Iconic duo The Daniels, who made Everything Everywhere All At Once are all set to return to the big screen as Universal Pictures has set a date for their next release in 2027. Their first project since the Oscar winning comedy drama, the untitled film will release on November 19, 2027.
Plot and casting details are tightly under wraps, but anticipation is high. Before Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Daniels, namely Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, made their debut with Swiss Army Man, the surreal comedy starring Daniel Radcliffe as a farting corpse, which quickly became a cult favorite. They’ve also ventured into television, directing an episode of the Star Wars Disney+ series Skeleton Crew.
In 2022, the duo opened up on their future projects in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Speaking to the outlet, Scheinert said,
“We’re always looking for the calculated risks,” says Kwan. “This felt like a very good way to make sure we could take a big swing, but with very little scrutiny and stress. Now that some of the old pressure’s gone, we’re going to find something more anxiety-inducing.”
With 2027 already stacked with blockbusters like Man of Tomorrow and Star Wars: Starfighter, The Daniels’ untitled event film is poised to be another one of the year’s most anticipated releases. More details on the project are awaited for now.
More details about Everything Everywhere All At Once
Everything Everywhere All at Once became one of the biggest films of 2022, thanks to it's absurdist comedy and inventive take on a story that has thrilled critics and audiences alike. Written and directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, the Oscar-winning duo known as The Daniels, the film fuses genres, science fiction, fantasy, surreal comedy, martial arts, animation, and immigrant drama, into a chaotic yet deeply emotional odyssey about identity, existence, and family.
Michelle Yeoh stars as Evelyn Quan Wang, a weary Chinese-American laundromat owner whose life spirals out of control during an IRS audit. When her mild-mannered husband, Waymond, played by Ke Huy Quan, is possessed by his alternate-universe self, Evelyn learns she must harness the abilities of her parallel selves to stop her daughter Joy’s, played by Stephanie Hsu, multiversal alter ego, Jobu Tupaki, from destroying existence through a cosmic “Everything Bagel.”
Premiering at South by Southwest on March 11, 2022, and released by A24 the following month, the film became the studio’s highest-grossing hit, earning $143.4 million on a $14–25 million budget. Its kinetic editing, striking visuals, and heart-wrenching performances earned near-universal acclaim. Sweeping seven Oscars, including Best Picture, Director, Actress, and both Supporting categories, it redefined what modern cinema could be: chaotic, compassionate, and profoundly alive. Till date, it's regarded as one of the best science fiction films of all time.
Everything Everywhere All At Once is available to stream on Prime Video.
