Rita Ora shows love to her queer fans, calls them in a 'league of their own'

British singer-songwriter Rita Ora had a great time in Fire Island, New York. The 34-year-old pop star partied like there was no tomorrow alongside her queer (LGBTQ) fans on July 12, 2025, at the Tryst Pool Club in Fire Island Pines, a hamlet located in New York's Brookhaven. While Ora looked dapper in a black leather outfit, she took over the DJ booth, dancing and pouring drinks for the attendees.

Rita Ora, who is married to Academy Award-winning filmmaker Taika Waititi, besides dancing and having shots with her LGBTQ fans, also enjoyed a performance by a group of local drag stars, including Missleidy Rodriguez, Bubbles D’Boob, and Pixie Aventura. After she reached Fire Island on her water taxi, the British singer turned actress was also heard saying:

"This is so fun. I'm gagged — gagged!"

While the Body On Me hitmaker had a fantastic time on the island along with her queer fans, she managed to take some time out for a conversation with People. In an exclusive interview with the outlet, the British pop star said:

"Everybody’s warned me that once you get on [the island] it’s gonna be hard to get off. I’m like, story of my life!"

When Ora was asked a simple question about why she loved her queer fans so much, the Shine Ya Light singer replied:

"They’re just in a league of their own. There is so much to learn from the years and history of the constant struggle of being authentically themselves. There’s so much to it."

She went ahead and continued by saying:

"Yes, they’re amazing and they know just how to have a good time, but they celebrate individuality, creativity. The conversations they have amongst each other is just full of love. But underneath it all there’s always a sense of emotion and vulnerability, and that, for me, wins every time."

With a smile on her face, Rita Ora further added:

"And the makeup slaps! It’s like, nobody knows how to do makeup better than the queens, you know what I mean? It’s just the way it is."

"My summer plan is to just have as much fun as I possibly can, because I work so much. I think my friends are like, ‘You really need to enjoy yourself.’ So when I’m on holiday I’m actually gonna just be on holiday: drink, not go on my phone, not care about tomorrow."
