Russo Brothers tease Avengers: Doomsday with a new cryptic image

Fans have gotten something new to talk about the next big thing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, i.e., Avengers: Doomsday, as the Russo brothers, who are directing the film, have teased something on their official Instagram account.

The post is nothing but a black and white, grainy image where people can see a letter V.

The film takes place fourteen months after the events that happened in Thunderbolts*, now The New Avengers, where a few teams, including the X-Men, The New Avengers, and more, will be up against a new threat, Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., who also portrayed the iconic Iron Man in other MCU films.

As of this writing, the film is set for a release on December 18, 2026, which will be followed by Secret Wars on December 17, 2027. Several actors are set to reprise roles from previous Marvel films, including Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Channing Tatum, Letitia Wright, and more.

There's no teaser or trailer of Avengers: Doomsday available for the public now but it is believed that it will be shown in theaters with James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third film in the popular sci-fi franchise.

What does the Avengers: Doomsday image mean?

As soon as the image surfaced, fans were on their own theory train, making something out of it. If you take a look at the post's comments section, fans think that it is simply a "V" for Victor, which translates to the first name of Doctor Doom himself.

This is just one of many things you will see in there. However, most of the fans are just confused and want the Russos to stop teasing them with such posts. It is really fun to see how the directors are building the excitement for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

A few weeks ago, they did the same thing when the Russos shared another black and white image of the set, which led some fans to think that the directors are teasing an Avengers vs. X-Men fight. You can see the image below:

But if we simply calm down our nerves and look at it, the image might simply mean the fifth Avengers film, as five is written as "V" in Roman.

Avengers: Doomsday was supposed to be in theaters already, as it was originally scheduled for a release this May. However, it was first delayed to May 2026, and later to the current release schedule.
