Ryan Reynolds, famous for acting in superhero franchises, recently appeared on an episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The 48 year old Deadpool star cuddled with puppies during Colbert’s ‘Rescue Dog Rescue’ segment, aired on Monday, May 12. Ryan Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, reduced their public outings since December 2024, after the actress filed a lawsuit against Justin Baldoni, which started a public feud. Since then Ryan has kept silent on interviews regarding the feud, including The Late Show episode.
During his appearance on the show, Ryan Reynolds indulged in promotions for the upcoming season of his sports docuseries, Welcome to Wrexham, which follows the progress of Welsh football club Wrexham A.F.C.
Calling the experience of watching matches “mayhem,” Reynolds added,
“It’s the ecstasy and joy that you can’t believe exists in this world right now that we live in. We live in a digital hate tank.”
He praised the power of shared events like
“concerts and sports and movies and places where we gather together”
for their role in creating unity. The interview did not touch on the legal conflict between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
Reynolds also declined to comment on the Lively-Baldoni dispute during his Monday guest spot on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast.
Ryan Reynolds Named in Justin Baldoni Countersuit Amid Blake Lively’s Legal Battle:

Blake Lively initiated legal action against Justin Baldoni, accusing the actor-director of serious misconduct on set, including s*xual harassment and fostering a “hostile work environment.” Her lawsuit also cites “severe emotional distress” and claimed Baldoni launched a smear campaign against her. Since then, the 41-year-old has denied all allegations.
In a legal turnabout, Baldoni filed a countersuit in January, targeting Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist. He claimed civil extortion, defamation, and a violation of privacy laws. Both Lively and Reynolds have dismissed the accusations. The publicist, meanwhile, has moved to be dismissed from the proceedings.
March saw Reynolds’ legal team respond with a motion to dismiss, stating in court filings obtained by Us Weekly that Baldoni’s case “does not identify a single allegedly defamatory statement” made by Reynolds himself.
“The entirety of Mr. Baldoni’s case appears to be based on Mr. Reynolds allegedly privately calling Mr. Baldoni a ‘predator,’ but here is the problem, that is not defamation unless they can show that Mr. Reynolds did not believe that statement to be true, the complaint doesn’t allege that, and just the opposite, the allegations in the complaint suggest that Mr. Reynolds genuinely believes Mr. Baldoni is a predator.” Ryan Reynolds attorneys Mike Gottlieb and Esra Hudson shared in a statement to Us at the time.
“Mr. Reynolds’ wife has accused Mr. Baldoni — privately and in multiple complaints — of sexual harassment and retaliation, and as pointed out by Mr. Reynolds’ motion, Mr. Baldoni has also openly spoken about his past of mistreating women and pushing the boundaries of consent. Mr. Reynolds has a First Amendment right to express his opinion of Mr. Baldoni, which should be comforting to a group of people who have repeatedly called Ms. Lively and Mr. Reynolds ‘bullies’ and other names over the past year.” the statement continued.
