During a May 28 episode of E! News Sitdown with Bruce Bozzi, Sarah Jessica Parker gave insights on how she is raising her children in Hollywood.

The Sex and the City star revealed that ultimately, she wants her kids to be financially and emotionally independent, and opened up about the advice she would give to her eldest son, James Wilkie, 22, who recently began his acting career:

"I really want my children to be educated in the ways that are fulfulling to them. I don't think that there is one way to be an educated person or to be equipped to be an adult and try to fashion a life for yourself after what would be considered 'finishing college' let's say 22 years old."

Her son, James Wilkie Broderick, recently graduated from Brown University as a Classics major. Sarah Jessica Parker shares two other children, twins, Tabitha and Loretha, all three of whom she shares with husband Matthew Broderick. During the interview, she went on to add what she aspires for her children:

"You want for them to be pursuing things that are exciting and challenging and hard and gratifying and to be able to ultimately take care of themselves, support themsleves, emotionally, financially, and that they can be in the world and be a reliable person to themselves and to other people. And so we talk about work lke that."

While Sarah is supportive of her son pursuing an acting career, her twin daughters reportedly do not want to follow in her footsteps, as per Matthew's previous conversation with Hola! Magazine published on April 10, 2025.

Matthew Broderick says her and Sarah Jessica Parker's twin daughters don't want to pursue a career in acting

During a conversation with Hello! Magazine in April 2025, Sarah Jessica Parker's husband, Matthew Broderick, discussed how he feels about his son, James Wilkie, following in his parents' footsteps to pursue a career in acting.

When the question about his twin daughters' plans came up, Matthew said:

"One of them definitely is not, she says, right now but I don’t think so.”

Matthew also noted that one of his daughters is "repelled" by the idea of acting.

In contrast, 22-year-old son, Wilkie, starred alongside his father in an episode of Elsbeth. Matthew, while discussing spending time on set with his son, said:

"It was great, we had two days together. It was really fun to hang around the craft service table and eat snacks. He was nervous but he got over that. We had a great couple of days."

Matthew and Sarah Jessica Parker have been married for almost 30 years since they tied the knot in 1997.
