Weezer’s longtime bassist Scott Shriner's ex-wife, Jillian Lauren, recently sat for an interview with Rolling Stone, where she shared the aftermath of her police standoff in April.
As per the interview published on Saturday, December 20, Jillian Lauren shared that she couldn't discuss all the parts of the case but would try her best to share her perspective with the world.
“My world fell to pieces around me in a heartbeat,” she shared.
“It’s like, you spend your whole life just getting an entire deck of cards in order. And just take them and throw them up in the air one day, and I’m still waiting to see how they’re gonna land.” added Lauren.
For the unversed, Lauren filed for divorce from Scott Shriner earlier this month. Following the shooting incident, she is now enrolled in a two-year mental health diversion program. While explaining her side of the story, Jillian Lauren shared:
“I was doing the best I knew to protect my family, [The] impulse was self-defense.”
Scott Shriner’s estranged wife, Jillian Lauren, reflects on trauma, media scrutiny after LAPD Shooting

As per a report shared by the Los Angeles Times, Scott Shriner‘s estranged wife was taken in by the Los Angeles Police in April, with law enforcement suspecting Jillian Lauren of attempted murder. She was accused of using her weapon on LAPD officers, who were present in the backyard of her house.
The officers had been called out in her area for a separate hit-and-run case; however, the situation turned grim for Lauren when the police shot her, leading to her hospitalization.
As per the Rolling Stone interview, prosecutors eventually decided to charge Lauren with negligent discharge of a firearm and assault with a semiautomatic weapon. And when Lauren chose to plead not guilty, the judge found her eligible for the mental health diversion program.
Jillian Lauren, who is also a best-selling author known for books like Everything You Ever Wanted and Some Girls: My Life in a Harem, expanded on how the headlines affected her.
“When the [mental health diversion] headlines came out, my joke was, ‘I’m not just a gun-toting criminal, now I’m a crazy one,’” she shared.
“My PTSD is a very real thing. I’m a victim of sex trafficking and domestic violence. … When the headlines said ‘Mental Health Diversion,’ what I really thought was, ‘OK, good. People are so scared to talk about this.' I’m in a position where I can speak to it,” added Lauren.
After years of strain, Jillian Lauren says public scrutiny deepened divorce pain

Jillian Lauren had been married to Scott Shriner since 2005; however, the author filed for divorce 20 years later on December 5, stating 'irreconcilable differences'. Scott Shriner and his ex-wife had adopted two sons, for whom Lauren is now seeking joint custody.
She opened up about her divorce in the Rolling Stone interview and explained that the couple had been growing distant for years. She expanded that the police incident didn't help but, in fact, made things worse, pushing the situation to a “crisis” point.
“I had to go back and work on trauma from a long time ago in order to try and understand myself now, my actions,” she shared.
“The headlines about the divorce were the ones that really hurt me, I was the one who served my husband, but still, to see it in the public was really painful. It was definitely a day [spent] under the covers, blocking out all the noise. Divorce is painful, I don’t care who you are,” she explained.
In spite of everything she's been through, Lauren spoke of Scott Shriner in good regard.
“He’s still my best friend. We still have beautiful kids together and have always really supported each other in our various transformations,” she shared.
The couple announced their separation in an Instagram post uploaded on Lauren's profile.
"We have decided to divorce. Looking back with pride on the world we built, we marvel at our magnificent boys- our brightest lights." shared the couple.
"We’ll always miss the wild-at-heart kids we once were: drinking milkshakes, driving through the desert night just to see the Grand Canyon. We’ll always share the wonder we saw in each other’s eyes, when we first held our children," the post continued.
The post ends with Scott Shriner and Lauren thanking and appreciating each other.
"The same wild hearts that brought us together, carry us now in different directions. We’ll forever be a family, united in love, laughter, and music. Thank you all for the confetti shower of support and friendship throughout the years. It’s been beautiful. Love, Jillian and Scott"
