American acting legend Stanley Tucci has been residing in the UK for over 10 years with his family. While they share an idyllic lifestyle, there’s one thing that seemingly sets him and his youngest children apart: their British accents. Tucci jokes that this makes him feel, at times, like they are "separated by a common language" when making an appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark on April 29.

Tucci’s comments and family examined

During Tucci’s appearance alongside Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, he expanded upon spending the last 13 years of his life in Britain. The Devil Wears Prada actor then shared that his youngest children, Emilia and Matteo, both have English accents.

"Who was it? Was it Churchill who said that America and England are the same country separated by a common language? My little kids, they have British accents, so it’s always funny."

Rita joked that Tucci’s children "naturally sound smarter" than him, to which he responded,

"Without question. And they actually are smarter than me."

Tucci is a father to five children. The eldest three, Camilla and twins Isabel and Nicolo, are from his marriage to late wife Kate Tucci, who unfortunately succumbed to her battle with breast cancer in 2009. His youngest children, Emilia and Matteo, were born to Felicity Blunt, whom he married three years after the passing of his wife in October 2012.

Tucci opened up about Blunt’s role in their blended family dynamic when speaking to a reporter from The Guardian in 2017,

“It is not easy to find somebody who is going to take on three teenagers and a widower. That’s a lot. But she was willing to take on that challenge. She cares for the kids as if they are her own, and it is a tough role, being a step-parent.”

Tucci also used the platform to speak about his upcoming project, a travel television show titled Tucci in Italy. It is set to debut on National Geographic on May 18 and the following day on Hulu and Disney+. This will be a follow-up to Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy, his previous multi-Emmy-winning show.

The five-episode series follows Tucci across Tuscany, Lombardy, Trentino-Alto Adige, Abruzzo, and Lazio, with a much better grasp of his responsibilities as a host this time around. It’s produced by Tucci’s SALT Productions alongside BBC Studios, and the series looks to give a more personal account of the regions and foods, rather than a surface-level foodie tour that ultimately has little impact.
