During a recent episode of her podcast, The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly mocked Ariana Grande’s appearance, describing the singer as “anorexic” while also criticizing her ties to Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo.
Megyn Kelly delivered the remarks during the latest episode of her podcast, where she revisited her long-standing concerns about celebrity culture. Kelly argued that the industry continued to celebrate an unhealthy standard, pointing to Grande and Erivo as examples of what she saw as a growing trend of stars becoming “dangerously thin.”
“This industry is not to be admired, certainly not emulated,” she said.
Megyn Kelly sat down with novelist Andrew Klavan for the episode, using their conversation about current trends and her decision to pull her podcast from Golden Globe consideration as a starting point for the critique. Her commentary circled back to the two Wicked stars, whose weight loss throughout filming and the press tour had become a talking point in certain corners of the media.
“Take a look at Ariana Grande right now, of the music industry and now also as an actress starring in Wicked, let’s check in on how Ariana, who was raised on television, on Nickelodeon… is doing. She is very clearly anorexic. If she’s 90 pounds, it’s a lot. She looks like you could snap her in two with your fingers,” shared Kelly.
Megyn Kelly makes controversial claims on Ariana Grande's relationship with Wicked costar Cynthia Erivo

Megyn Kelly also addressed the online speculation surrounding the Wicked co-stars, pointing to comments about their unusually close dynamic during interviews and promotional events.
“And she's having some sort of weird, I don’t know what it is… sexual? I don’t know, relationship with a they/them, her co-star Cynthia Erivo who also looks dangerously thin,” Megyn Kelly said.
According to the Daily Mail, Erivo had been dating Lena Waithe since 2022, while Grande’s romance with fellow Wicked actor Ethan Slater became public in 2023. Megyn Kelly's remarks about the actresses’ bodies mirrored a wave of social media concern, as many users noted how drastically both stars’ appearances had changed since they were first cast in the film.
Ariana Grande looks back on last year’s lessons after earning another Glinda nomination

Recently, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Ariana Grande had achieved something few actors manage: a second consecutive nomination for the same role. Grande earned another nod for her portrayal of Glinda in the Wicked films, a repeat honor that surprised even her.
“It is definitely just as exciting [as last year’s nomination] and kind of blindsiding. You don’t expect something like this, let alone [for it] to happen twice for the same role,” she told The Hollywood Reporter after the announcement.
“So I’m just deeply honored. I’m just really moved by it,” she added.
Heading into another awards season, Grande said she planned to carry lessons from the previous year into the new cycle.
“Something that I was so grateful for last year was that I just felt really present, and I was so excited to meet so many actors that I really respect and whose work that I really love, and have such human conversations and positive experiences [with],” she said.
With the Wicked tour winding down, Ariana Grande reflected on what might come next after fulfilling her longtime dream of playing Glinda.
“There are a few things floating around in my head, but I would love to do theater as well, and it’s something that I’m excited about,” said Grande, who would next appear in Focker in-Law.
“I think as someone who started on Broadway, I would love to be on stage in that way again, and exercise a different muscle and continue to tell stories in different ways. I’m so lucky to be here, and I love acting. It’s really fun.”
