Kate Cassidy's friends have opened up about her "concerning" behavior after Liam Payne's shocking demise.

The former One Direction star plummeted to his death from a hotel in Argentina in October last year, two days after Cassidy departed from the country. Just this Sunday, her close friend spoke to the Daily Mail about her response to his shocking demise:

“There were months where I literally didn’t see her smile, and I was seeing her every day,” they said. “It was so concerning. She didn’t even seem like herself. She canceled a lot of hangouts and just was almost a recluse.”

Kate Cassidy, 26, and Liam Payne began dating in 2022. He was 31 when he died, and a subsequent toxicology report confirmed he was heavily inebriated at the time. There were also traces of cocaine and a prescription antidepressant found in his system.

During their conversation with the Daily Mail, the insider revealed that Kate Cassidy is now doing better mentally, and that she's

“hanging out with friends” and even “open to dating again,” though “she’s not quite there yet.” They added, “There was a point where she was definitely not OK, but she’s getting better now. She’s moving forward now. She knows it’s what he would have wanted.”

Per Page Six, Braian Nahuel Paiz, a server at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel, where Payne died, alleged that he spent an intimate night with the latter. He also claims he supplied him with drugs the night before he died. The friend addressed these claims to the Daily Mail, noting that Kate Cassidy is not paying heed to any of it.

“Kate doesn’t pay any attention to them,” the pal said about the allegations. “She knows what she and Liam had, and that it was very, very good. Whatever happened that day doesn’t change the love and respect of her relationship with Liam.”

Just this month, however, Payne's sister, Ruth, seemingly took jibes at Kate Cassidy via Instagram. Hours after the latter shared a video of her ‘last dance’ with the late singer exactly a year after he died, Ruth shared a what many are calling a pointed post.

She shared a photo of her brother, dressed as a pirate, and a note about being "paralysed" by grief and how ‘cruel’ life can be. She then accused people of trying to use his demise for clout.

"Everyone only seems interested in the public side of this, some sadly seem more interested in the fame they can gain off this, but on the human side people need to remember when they speak, there is a son without his Dad, parents without their child and I am lost without my brother," she penned alongside a family photo.

Although she did not name-drop Kate Cassidy, fans are linking the post to her. However, the latter has yet to respond to these claims.
