Comedian Monique Angela Hicks, or Mo'Nique, defended boxer Claressa Shields. She had a message for the Black women who criticised Shields for her looks. As seen in a video posted on YouTube by 1hun3TV, she began her livestream by stating that this year was the time to focus on positivity. She said those who listen to gossip about others cannot grow in life. She said:“See, when you're focusing on your sh*t you get stronger, you get healthier, you get better. But when you stay in other people's backyards, your backyard is piling up with sh*t. Stay in your own backyard, clean it out, and watch how you live.”Mo'Nique went on to say:“Make sure y'all go support my baby Claressa cause she's getting ready to fight again. And y'all know the outcome. Y'all know she going to whoop her. Y'all know she going to whoop that sh*t. That's what I believe cause she is the greatest female boxer of all times. Greatest woman boxer of all times.”Hicks said that she stood by her statement because that’s what the records showed. She said one could not beat facts. However, there was a lot that could be done with fiction. According to Mo'Nique:“You can do a lot of sh*t with fiction. You can twist it. You can turn it. You can flip it. You can rub it down. Oh, no. But what you can't do with facts is turn that around. You can't erase it. You can't make it disappear. So, Claressa, my baby, keep standing. Keep standing strong. Keep being confident. Keep being beautiful.”“Shame on you”: Mo'Nique criticizes Black women for their comments about Claressa ShieldsMo'Nique spoke about Black women and said that it was wrong for some people to criticize Claressa Shields. She explained that not all Black women felt that way. She said that many of them saw Clarissa as a beautiful, confident, and strong Black woman, both inside and out. She also added that as Claressa Shields filled boxing arenas, many other Black women supported and admired her. Hicks added:“But for those of you who want to criticize, who want to speak about what she looks like and she's not beautiful, shame on you. Shame on you. Don't pull your insecurities on that beautiful woman.”Mo'Nique also said:“Don't pull your insecurities and your immaturity on that beautiful black woman who is by the way making history. Who when it's all said and done, when the books are all when we all gone and they open up the books, guess whose name they going to see as the greatest woman boxer of all times, they will see Claressa Shields.”Mo'Nique said that many little girls look up to Claressa Shields. Despite everything, Black women kept doing that to themselves. She encouraged Shields to give her best in her upcoming match. Also Read: What did Rihanna say about Claressa Shields?
