On October 28, Interview Magazine published an interview with English singer Lily Allen. During the conversation, when asked if she had a Finsta or a fake Instagram account, Allen revealed that she had five of them, one of which was under the name of Charli XCX. She said:

“Yeah. I have about five. One’s a fake Charli XCX account.”

The revelation drew reactions from social media users as one online commentator wrote:

“She the least PR trained of them all bless her soul it's cute i say.”

Another X user said that it was a coping mechanism, writing:

“Yes, because nothing screams normal hobby like catfishing people as another pop star. Totally healthy coping mechanism, Lily.”

Similarly, a netizen called it the best fan fiction of the year, saying:

“Lily Allen's Charli XCX account is the best fan fiction of 2025.”

One social media user noted that this was another way of doing method acting, commenting:

“Celebs are so bored they're doing method acting on Instagram now.”

Others seemingly threw shade at her for having a Finsta, as one user wrote:

“And what is she getting out of it ?!? talk about having too much time on your hands.”

In similar lines, another social media user asked:

“That’s just weird , why would a celebrity need to pretend to be another celebrity online?”

During the conversation with Mel Ottenberg, the interviewer said he would also retire from his Finsta accounts. When Lily Allen asked the reason, he said it was because of his busy schedule.

When Ottenberg praised her voice in Sleepwalking, she said:

“I’m glad to hear that, because record labels always want the upbeat ones, like “Nonmonogamummy.” But I’m with you, I like “Sleepwalking.” It’s not a cruel album. I don’t feel like I’m being mean. It was just the feelings I was processing at the time.”

At the time, she was in New York, but she realized that she needed to get out and sit down with someone whom she could trust to write.
