Former MLB star David Justice is looking back on the allegations of abuse Halle Berry levied against him.
As reported by Complex, Justice married the Catwoman actress five months after they began dating in 1992. However, he said that soon after, “cracks” appeared. During a Thursday, August 7 interview on the All the Smoke podcast, he recalled feeling like Berry wasn't the traditional wife he was hoping for.
He said the last straw for him was when Halle Berry once recounted a domestic violence incident with a former partner, though she never dropped any names, nor did she clarify further. However, the world was quick to assume it was David Justice.
“She let the world think it. She didn’t come out and say, ‘Nah, it wasn’t David,’” he said. “That, I didn’t appreciate from her.”

In a recent interview with People magazine, the former Atlanta Braves all-star doubled down on his sentiments:
"Over the past 20 years, I've heard people saying, 'Isn't that the dude who hit Halle Berry in the head?'" he told the outlet. "They'd scream, 'Hey Justice, hit the ball like you hit Halle!'"
As reported by the outlet, David Justice was a huge hit on the baseball field, having nabbed two World Series pennants and the 2000 ALCS MVP award. He told the publication that his current wife, Rebecca, had also heard of the rumors, but she chose to give him the benefit of the doubt.
However, these days, most people will "believe everything they read," David Justice said. One time, a flight attendant allegedly came up to him and asked, "Aren't you the guy who hit Halle Berry?"
Just last week, the athlete launched a tirade on X against the actress, breaking nearly two decades of silence. In one of them, which have since been deleted, the 49-year-old asserted that he never abused his ex-wife during their short-lived matrimony.
"For so many years, there has been this cloud upon the guys who were associated with Halle back then," he told the outlet. "Halle has said that she was in abusive relationships, but she didn't name who the abuser was. So for many years, I know a lot of people thought it was me." In writing the tweets, "All I was trying to do was let the world know that David Justice is not the person who hit her on her head and caused her hearing loss. Not only did David Justice not do that, David Justice never hit her, period."
Back in 2015, he echoed his claims amid rumors that he was responsible for Berry’s partial hearing loss. As reported by Complex, at the time, he claimed that Berry had told him a “former Hollywood boyfriend (WS)” was responsible for the injury, adding that she had “never said that I hit her.”
"My kids know what their dad is about, but the one thing that I could not have was my kids' little friends and their parents, or social-media-type people, seeing this particular thing attached to me," David Justice further told People Magazine. "I'm in the community trying to coach, being a mentor. I'm not perfect, but don't ever say that I hit a woman."
In yet another exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, David Justice reiterated that he is not one for domestic abuse, and what compelled him to finally speak his mind:
'I had to say something after reading about Halle's recent marriage,' he said. 'So many years ago, I didn't say anything about the accusations that I abused her, but now I have three children, ages, 15, 13 and 11, two boys and one girl, and they can read this stuff and they have friends who will read it as well so I had to finally come out and say once and for all I never hit Halle Berry. Back then it didn't matter, but it's different now."
He further told the publication,
'Halle never said I hit her but she never said I didn't either, which was disappointing. Let me tell you something, I was raised by a single mother and I love and respect her dearly, I would never hit a woman. Never. So, now I have said all that I am going to say on the subject, I am not the face of Halle Berry's exes, I won't be going on TV to talk about this. I just wanted to make sure my wife, my children and the rest of my family, friends and fans know the truth. But one more thing...people in Hollywood knew the truth then but no one spoke up on my behalf. Again, disappointing, but that was 20 years ago and I won't be doing anymore tweeting on the subject. I have said what I needed to say so now, I'm done.'
As for Halle Berry, as reported by Huffpost, she has long been vocal about the domestic abuse she has endured. Just last week, she reflected on witnessing her own mother be abused.
"I saw my mother battered and beaten many years of my life, and I felt helpless," she said at an event for the Jenesse Center, which is a domestic violence intervention program. "And that's what connects me to this organization. I have an understanding, a knowing. I feel like I have something that I can impart to these women."
