The Real Housewives of Potomac alum Candiace Dillard slammed Allison Holker's decision to publicly discuss her late husband Stephen "tWitch" Boss's struggles with addiction. Dillard took to X (formerly Twitter) on January 7, saying,
"I'm not even gonna say it. But this white woman is doing everything BUT protecting her Black children and her Black husband's legacy. She could've kept this in her therapist's office. SMH."
Dillard is responding to Holker's interview with People Magazine, where she discussed how her husband, who died by suicide at age 40 in December 2022, hid a "cornucopia" of drugs from her.
The RHOP alum is under fire for her comments on social media after netizens pointed out that Dillard allegedly always talks about colorism. Others defended Candiace and agreed with her, noting that Allison could have kept Stephen's drug addiction out of the media.
Netizens mainly questioned Candiace's words, where she brought Allison's deceased husband's color into the equation and argued that she had no right to do so, considering she married a white man. Candiace married Chris Bassett in 2018.
"She could've just easily taken this story to Essence or Ebony" - says Candiace Dillard about Allison Holker
While criticizing Allison Holker's decision to discuss her late husband's drug addiction with People Magazine, Candiace Dillard added that Allison could have picked a different publication to reveal allegedly sensitive information.
After a commentator defended Holker, saying,
"Her intent might have been to make people aware of mental illness/drug abuse, recognize the signs, and eliminate the stigma."
Candiace Dillard responded by saying that Holker could have picked a different publication other than People Magazine.
"She could've just easily taken this story to Essence or Ebony where care would have been taken to share such a tragically intimate story of a Black man's plight against himself."
Candiace Dillard has been vocal in the past about conversations around race and color. The reality TV star was under fire in January 2024 for saying that she was scared of having "light-skinned children" on the Don't Call Me White Girl podcast before she exited RHOP in March.
