The Today Show's Third Hour host, Sheinelle Jones, has been absent for a few months. Dylan Dreyer came out in support of fellow Today Show co-host Sheinelle Jones and gave an update to viewers about her. In the latest interview during the Kentucky Derby, Dreyer said that everyone in the Today Show family is standing by Jones, adding:
"She’s hanging in there. We’re praying for her and her family."
This is the latest update on Sheinelle Jones, who has taken a leave of absence from her work and social media due to unspecified reasons pertaining to her family's health.
More about Dylan Dreyer's update on Sheinelle Jones
This latest update from Dylan Dreyer comes five months after Sheinelle Jones last appeared on the Today Show back in December. After over a month of absence from the Today Show, in January, Jones, who is married to Uche Ojeh and shares three children with him, posted an update on her Instagram, saying:
"Hi everybody... I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show. I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter. It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not on the support of my Today show family, but to also have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon.”
Now, while attending the star-studded Kentucky Derby on 3 May, during an interview with E! News, the NBC meteorologist told the outlet that everyone on the Today Show was supporting Jones as she navigates through this difficult time with her family. She said:
"She's doing all right.... You know, she's just going through a tough time with her family."
Dylan Dreyer further added that someone from the Today Show team is always in contact with her, and they are all eagerly looking forward to the day she rejoins the team for the daily broadcasts. She said:
"We talk to her every day. One of us on the team talks to her every single day, and we're there to support her, and we'll welcome her back with open arms the second she can get back to us."
This is not the first time Dylan Dreyer has provided an update on Sheinelle Jones. According to People Magazine, last month while hosting the NBC 3rd Hour, Dreyer shared that Jones missed being in front of the camera but was currently focused on being with her family, where she was most needed. She said:
"She misses being here — she wishes she was here with us, but she's doing what she needs to do. She'll be back."
Apart from Dylan Dreyer, Al Roker, Willie Geist, and Craig Melvin have also shared updates at various points during Jones' five-month absence, although none have disclosed the specific reason for her leave.
