Denise Richards opened up to her fans this week, revealing just how painful her ongoing divorce from Aaron Phypers had been. In a recent Instagram video, the actress admitted that the last few months had been anything but easy. At first, she tried to keep the mood light, however moments later, she dropped the pretense.

“It’s actually been sh***y, but I’m gonna pretend like it’s all good, I’ve actually been posting on Instagram like nothing’s going on in my life, and I can’t do that anymore, because there’s something obviously going on.” shared Denise.

She thanked her followers for standing by her during what she described as “a very, very, very difficult time.”

“It’s so hard to go through a divorce. Many of you have gone through that. This isn’t my first one, second one, and I never thought I’d get divorced again. This is why I always say never, say never.” she continued.

Denise didn't delve completely into the specifications of her split but shared a glimpse of the complications surrounding it. She explained that she would speak more openly about her marriage when ready, but for now, she was focused on “processing” what had happened.

The divorce battle between Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers escalated in July 2025 as both sides leveled serious accusations, according to reports from People Magazine and Page Six.

After Denise Richards obtained a temporary restraining order, Aaron Phypers issued a statement to People Magazine rejecting her claims of domestic violence.

“I have never physically or emotionally abused Denise — or anyone, these accusations are completely false and deeply hurtful.” he shared.

Phypers insisted that while the couple had faced challenges, “any suggestion of abuse is categorically untrue.” Richards, who cited “irreconcilable differences” in her July 7 divorce filing, alleged that Phypers had “repeatedly abused” her throughout their marriage.

The conflict continued when Page Six published excerpts from a letter Phypers allegedly sent to friends and family. In it, he accused Richards of struggling with Vicodin use, mixing it with Adderall and tequila, and endangering their daughter, Eloise.

“She’s no longer eating real meals, and I’ve witnessed her pass out from substances — putting herself and others in danger,” he shared.

Phypers also alleged Denise Richards had engaged in an affair and said he found “explicit messages” supporting his suspicions. Additionally, he claimed he had been physically attacked during a dispute over his missing phone, which he later said was found destroyed.

Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers’ ongoing divorce drew police attention earlier this month, according to People Magazine. The Lost Hills Sheriff’s Department confirmed it responded to a call at the Calabasas residence where Phypers lives with his family around 4:40 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3. Deputies determined that “no crime occurred” during the incident.

Richards’ attorney, Gregory Berman, told People Magazine the actress had not violated her temporary restraining order by going to the property.

“On August 3, 2025, after confirming that Mr. Phypers was not present in her home, Ms. Richards entered the home to retrieve her dogs after learning that Mr. Phypers had put down one of her other dogs without her knowledge or permission,” shared Berman.

A source close to Phypers, however, disputed that account, calling Richards’ version “100 percent, absolutely false.” The insider alleged that Richards had been “screaming and banging on the door” before entering and that Phypers chose to leave the house through a side exit after hearing her voice.

Richards and Phypers’ divorce has quickly shifted from private turmoil to public spectacle, drawing attention not only for its intensity but also for the seriousness of the accusations.
