Jennifer Lopez took to Instagram on May 13 to post about a facial injury that occurred during a course of rehearsals for the upcoming American Music Awards.
Lopez posted two Instagram stories where she can be seen showing a cut across the bridge of her nose. In another frame, she can be seen icing the cut, with the caption saying:
"So...this happened."
In a subsequent Instagram story, Lopez posted a picture with her doctor and gave her fans an update about the healing process and mentioned that she was treated by the celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Jason Diamond. In the caption, she mentioned:
"Thank you for stitching me up Dr. Diamond. A week later and a whole lotta ice. I'm good as new."
The American Music Awards are scheduled to take place on May 26 at the BleauLive Theater in Las Vegas, and Lopez will be making a comeback as a host, after last hosting the ceremony in 2015. Her return to stage as a host was announced on April 9 by Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark productions, where he mentioned:
"We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer Lopez back to host the American Music Awards. Jennifer's incredible talent and incomparable stage presence make her the ideal host of the show. We know she will bring her one-of-a-kind energy to the official kick-off celebration of summer."
The awards show will be broadcast on May 26 from 8 p.m. EDT/5 p.m. PDT on CBS and Paramount+.
More about Jennifer Lopez's injuries
This isn't the first time Jennifer Lopez has incurred an injury while performing. In August 2024, Lopez posted a video on YouTube documenting her 'It's My Party' tour, where she revealed that she started bleeding during a Las Vegas concert. Lopez hit herself with her own microphone, and Alex Rodriguez helped her calm down with a pep talk. In the video, she can be heard speaking to Alex:
"I was bleeding, (it was) coming down my face. I hit myself with the microphone. Went like this; boom! I just looked to the side at the wrong time. Pete came, like a boxer, and he crushed it."
She revealed that the injury hurt and she was told that she might "need stitches." Alex also consoled J.Lo and reassured her that the show was the "best show" he had ever seen. The two had split in 2021 after being engaged for two years; however, as per recent rumors, the exes are spending a lot of time together in recent times.
