Actor and comedian Ben Stiller shared his thoughts following Donald Trump’s recent comments about Somalis, an ethnic group of people in Somalia. Taking to his X on December 3, Stiller wrote:

“Somalis are not garbage. Immigrants and refugees from anywhere are people like you and me. They should not be demonized. This country is built on the backs of people who have come from other places. It’s what our country is all about.”

During a recent cabinet meeting, Trump criticised the Somalians and said these immigrants were not welcome in America. In a clip posted by PBS NewsHour, the President can be seen saying:

“Somalians ripped off that state for billions of dollars, billions. Every year, billions of dollars and they contribute nothing. The welfare is like 88% They contribute nothing. I don't want them in our country, I'll be honest with you, OK? Somebody would say, oh, that's not politically correct, I don't care. I don't want them in our country. Their country is no good for a reason.”

Trump added:

“I can say it about other countries too. We don't want them to help. We got to, we have to rebuild our country. You know, our country is at a tipping point. We could go bad. We're at a tipping point. I don't know if people mind me saying that, but I'm saying that we could go one way or the other and we're gonna go the wrong way if we keep taking in garbage into our country.”

What did Trump say about Ilhan Omar?

Trump also said that he thought Ilhan Omar and the people around her were not good. He claimed they didn’t help or try to make things better and only complained. He also said they came from very difficult places and still acted unhappy, instead of appreciating what they had:

“We don't want them in our country. Let them go back to where they came from and fix it.”

Elsewhere in the meeting, Trump said:

“And when I see somebody like Ilhan Omar who I don't know at all, but I always watch her for years, I've watched her complain about our Constitution, how she's being treated badly, our Constitution, the United States of America is a bad place, hates everybody, hates Jewish people, hates everybody. And I think she's an incompetent person. She’s a real terrible person.”

He even called Tim Walz an “incompetent man,” mainly because of what he has done with Somalia. Trump opined that Somalia was barely a country. They lack resources, and the people run around and kill each other.

Donald Trump also said that they had tackled the border crisis. He mentioned that they become the strongest borders in the country. He thanked the citizens, the border patrol, ICE, and the military for their support. He said that, unlike previous times, the border situation has come under control. The President mentioned that although people are allowed to come, they have to follow the legal process.
