Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre, who was previously under investigation due to being caught up in the 2010 sexting scandal involving television personality Jenn Sterger, has allegedly stolen money from underprivileged people.

The Netflix documentary, UNTOLD: The Fall of Favre (2025), which is currently streaming on the platform, explores a different side of the renowned NFL player. However, Michael Vick, a former NFL player and football coach, who was among those interviewed for the documentary, opened up about Brett Favre and spoke out against him.

The recently released Netflix documentary on Favre, directed by Rebecca Gitlitz, follows the prominent quarterback's rise to fame as a successful footballer, his involvement in the 2010 Jenn Sterger sexting scandal, and his alleged participation in the Mississippi welfare funds scandal. Interestingly, not only Brett Favre's name popped up during the welfare fraud investigation, but other retired athletes, such as Brett DiBiase and Ted DiBiase Jr., were under the microscope.

The Mississippi welfare funds scandal, which was followed by a significant welfare fraud investigation, took place between 2020 and 2023. A bunch of high-profile personalities, including Brett Favre, were accused of misusing federal welfare funds. The investigation also shed light on attempted money laundering through nonprofit organizations.

The 44-year-old former NFL player, Michael Vick, who played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, and a few other teams, is also the head football coach at Norfolk State University. Vick, as mentioned earlier, was one of the personalities in the Netflix documentary who was vocal about Brett Favre and talked about how certain things work for a popular NFL player.

Vick, who spent over a year in a federal prison for his involvement in a dogfighting ring in Virginia, reveals in the documentary that Favre is "untouchable". He stated:

"People go to jail for stealing money everyday. If it’s that important, the right institutions can get involved. But, you know, some people are untouchable in certain ways and that’s just the way it is. I just think that’s kinda how the system is rigged. You know, some situations have to be played out in court. Some have to be played out in the public."

The United States Representative for Mississippi, Bennie Thompson, was among those who were interviewed in the recently released Netflix documentary UNTOLD: The Fall of Favre. The 70-year-old Representative regarding the former Super Bowl-winning quarterback, Favre, said:

"Brett Favre, with his name, ID, and reputation, could have done a lot of good for a state like Mississippi. But he didn’t. He took advantage of the people who were on that path and struggling."

Thompson continued and said:

If you are perceived as a superstar and you’re white, in many instances you get a pass. Brett Favre is getting a pass."

He further added:

"In certain circles, he’s still an icon. That doesn’t mean that he can’t do wrong. He did do wrong. I don’t know how he sleeps at night."
