Sarah Michelle Gellar is addressing feud rumous between her and Jennifer Love Hewitt after reportedly not taking photos with the actress at the I Know What You Did Last Summer premiere's red carpet on July 14.
When fans noticed that there were no photos of the two actresses and former costars posing together despite being at the premiere, Gellar took to her Instagram post on the night to comment and explain:
"For everyone asking - I never got to see @jenniferlovehewitt, who is fantastic in the movie. I was inside with my kids when the big carpet happened. And unfortunately JLH didn't come to the after party."
Gellar continued:
"If you have ever been to one of these it's crazy. I sadly didn't get pics with most of the cast. But that doesn't change how amazing I think they all are. Unfortunately some things happen only in real life and not online."
Sarah Michelle Gellar played Helen Shivers, while Hewitt portrayed Julie James in the 1997 movie and the 2025 version. Gellar's husband, Freddie Prinze Jr., reprised his role as Ray Bronson in the sequel. At the red carpet, Gellar posed with husband, Freddie Prinze Jr., Madelyn Cline, and film's director, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and her former Buffy co-star, Seth Green.
More on Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jennifer Hewitt feud rumors
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jennifer Hewitt's recent attendance at the I Know What You Did Last Summer premiere wasn't the first time that the two had to address feud rumors. In December, 2024, Sarah was asked by Extra if she knew whether Jennifer would be returning for the reboot movie, to which Sarah replied:
"I have nothing to do with that," before stepping away from the interview.
The interaction led to fans wondering if the two were feuding. However, she later addressed the incident and noted that she had signed an NDA:
"Aspiring actors please note: this 'deer in the headlights' reaction is perfect for when you are excited to see so many old friends in one project but have already stupidly forgotten what NDA means once this month."
