Filming for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has restarted in Basingstoke this week, with Tom Holland's stunt double stepping in while the actor recovers from his recent on-set injury. Production, which began earlier this summer in Glasgow and moved through soundstage work at Pinewood, paused briefly after Holland suffered a mild injury during a stunt. Studio sources described the break as precautionary while medical teams assessed him.
Local film spotters and verified fan accounts circulated photos of a masked stunt performer, who has now been recognized as Holland's stuntman. Also seen around the set are NYPD vehicles and large trucks.
Shooting for the film has been going on with a lot of audience, as the studio released footage recently of the actor on set with live audiences around him. In the video shared by Marvel, Holland is seen saying,
"It's day one. My fourth-ever day one on 'Spider-Man.' It's funny -- putting the suit on -- it feels different this time, somehow. It's also the first time we ever had fans on set for day one, so it's really exciting to share this with them. We've got some familiar faces on set. I'm just going to do my best, hopefully get it right, no pressure."
As of now, he has paused filming for a week and will resume shooting on September 29.
More details about Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is swinging into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a lot of expectations from fans and a brand new story for Peter Parker. Co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios, with Sony Pictures Releasing as the distributor, the film marks Tom Holland's fourth stint as Spider-Man in the MCU.
After the high-stakes chaos of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter is now back on the streets of New York, stripped of his identity as an Avenger and determined to rebuild his life. The project has been under work since 2019, with producer Amy Pascal confirming it in 2021. By early 2023, veteran writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers had joined the team, with Destin Daniel Cretton being announced as the director in 2024.
Cast for Spider-Man: Brand New Day includes Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, with Sadie Sink and Liza Colon-Zayas in new, unrevealed roles. Jon Bernthal will star as Frank Castle, while Mark Ruffalo will be joining the team as Bruce Banner, aka Hulk.
Filming began in August 2025 and will go on for quite some time, considering the project's large-scale premise. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is landing firmly in Phase Six of the MCU in a fresh chapter where Peter Parker must navigate anonymity, fractured relationships, and the ever-escalating threats that test both his humanity and strength.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be in theaters on July 31, 2026.
