The real events shown in Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere
Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere chronicles how Bruce Springsteen came up with the 1982 album. In one scene, Springsteen drives his car at full speed before engaging the brakes. This is taken from a real-life incident which, as Cooper calls it as "an extreme low point" in Bruce's life.
The film also features several flashback sequences in black and white, exploring Springsteen's childhood. There is a scene where Springsteen confronts his violent father, who used to constantly attack his mother. Springsteen takes a baseball bat to stop his father and hits him. As per Cooper, this is also taken from a real-life incident.
Besides these events, there is also a romantic subplot in Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere. He starts seeing a woman named Faye, a single mother who works as a waitress. As per Cooper, the character is an amalgamation of all the women the musician dated around that time. He said,
“Bruce said to me, ‘Look, the truth about yourself isn’t pretty.' Because I couldn’t connect with myself, I had a very difficult time connecting with a partner. Just as I was falling in love with someone, inexplicably, I would stop.’ In today’s parlance, it’s ghosting.”
Cooper added,
"[They] allowed Bruce to grow and face the things that he wasn’t dealing with to be able to have such a remarkable and loving relationship with his wife, Patti Scialfa.”
Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere is produced under the banners of Gotham Group, Night Exterior, and Bluegrass 7. Jeremy Allen White, known for his role in the TV series The Bear, portrays Springsteen in the film. Other cast members include Jeremy Strong, Brian Chase, and Stephen Graham.
