Street Fighter movie teaser debuts at The Game Awards with first look at the live-action fighters - Here's all about it

Street Fighter is a forthcoming martial arts action film directed by Kitao Sakurai and enriched by Dalan Musson's screenplay. A reboot of the film series, it's the third live-action adaptation of Capcom's namesake video game. Paramount Pictures will release the film on October 16, 2026. Here's the official synopsis as per Letterboxd:

In 1993, estranged fighters Ryu and Ken Masters are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament, a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past.

On December 12, 2025, the makers of Street Fighter released its teaser at The Game Awards. The 45-second video provides a glimpse of most of the characters from the ensemble cast.

It also features thrilling fight sequences set to funky music. Without giving away any plot details, the teaser generates excitement among viewers for the film. The film's colour palette resembles the original 1990s game, where the story is set. Towards the end, the makers also directly use the voice from the game that says, 'fight. You win.'

Street Fighter is produced by Mary Parent under the banners of Legendary Pictures and Capcom. It's shot by Ken Seng, with Luke Lynch as editor. The film's cast members include,

The film was originally supposed to be released on March 20, 2026, by Sony Pictures. Eventually, Paramount Pictures took over as the distributor, and the final release date was set to October 16, 2026. The first live-action adaptation premiered in 1994 and proved a success. It was followed by 2009's Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.
