Stranger Things has become a true force in pop culture. Audiences have invested in the show since its premiere on Netflix in 2016 and are anticipating the culmination of a story that began nearly a decade ago.In the most recent news about the hit Duffer brothers series, the Stranger Things cast assembled for a special screening and Q&A at the Paley Center in Manhattan on December 18 ahead of the release of Season 5 Volume 2. Variety approached 3 cast members, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, and Natalia Dyer, for their individual reactions when they first found out Will Byers had powers.Finn Wolfhard, who plays Will's closest friend on the show, Mike, had the following thoughts,“I didn’t get to be, everyone cold read that for the first time over a table read and I wasn’t there because I was sick. So I got to read it, like, on my own. I just was texting the Duffers like ‘Oh my god’ Like it’s happening. I love that last, like four is amazing and I love that last sequence so much.”Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin, added,“I thought it was kind of inevitable. I think it was, I think it’s such a great development for him, so I was very, very excited for him and proud of him and happy that the Duffers did it for sure.”While Natalia Dyer was slightly confused at first, but rejoiced in Will’s moment wholeheartedly.“I was like ‘Wait, What? What does that mean? What is that - what’s happening?’ It was definitely one of those moments where you’re like ‘Whoa’ And you’re looking, trying to understand and comprehend what just happened. But so exciting! I think it was something that, you know, I think were all rooting for each other’s characters and that’s just such a sick thing to happen for Will Byers. So it was, it was pretty great.”With the next 3 episodes of Stranger Things scheduled for release on Christmas, audiences everywhere are eagerly anticipating how the story will progress.Stranger Things creators make an appearance on The Tonight ShowDuring their recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the Duffer brothers certainly shared all that they could about their journey on Stranger Things without entering into spoiler territory. One interesting takeaway from their conversation with the late-night host was their thoughts on the Demogorgon costume design.Ross Duffer shared,“We worked with a costume designer — there were a lot of designs that came through — the main thing that we said is we want to be able to have a design where if you’re a young kid and you’ve seen the show, you can just draw it very easily. So that’s how the petals came out, because it’s pretty simple to draw.”Matt Duffer then added,“Yeah, it’s basically a flower and arms and [legs].”The attention to detail that went into making Stranger Things is a testament to the brothers’ love for their project and everyone involved. It will certainly be interesting to see the duo’s next steps, as well as what the future holds for the rest of the cast and crew.
