Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell's Anyone But You emerged as the film that brought back romantic comedies on our screens with a refreshing love story that balanced the right amount of giggles and gushy moments, thanks to the actors' chemistry. Directed by Will Guck, the film grossed $220.3 million, almost ten times its production budget, giving Sweeney and Powell a career highlight.

Although the film ended with the main characters getting together and in love, fans have wondered if there's more to the story and if a sequel exploring the couple's fate will ever be released. Thankfully, Sydney Sweeney has an answer for that.

The actress has been optimistic about working on a sequel for Anyone But You, as she told Variety during an interview that she's open to returning as Bea. Speaking to the outlet, Sweeney said,

“We are always open to it. I think that when the right concept and script come to Glen and I, we will jump in hand in hand.”

This mirrors her past comments about a sequel for the film, as she previously told People Magazine about her and Powell thinking up ideas for a sequel. The Euphoria actress said,

"We're dreaming up a bunch of different ideas. We haven't really solidified what we want to do yet, but we're just dreaming up a bunch of different things and seeing what clicks best."

If you thought modern rom-coms were dead, Anyone But You came crashing into theaters to prove otherwise. Directed by Will Gluck and co-written with Ilana Wolpert, the film reimagines Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing for the Tinder generation. Starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, it pairs two of Hollywood’s most magnetic stars for a battle of egos, misunderstandings, and love that’s as chaotic as it is irresistible.

The setup feels familiar, but the chemistry is anything but. Sweeney plays Beatrice “Bea” Messina, a Boston University law student whose love life is in shambles. Glen Powell’s Ben, a charming but smug Goldman Sachs employee, becomes her accidental nemesis after one perfect night turns awkwardly sour. Months later, fate and a family wedding in Sydney throw them together again, forcing them to fake a relationship in true Shakespearean fashion.

While the will-they-won’t-they banter drives the story, the film’s strength lies in its ensemble. The supporting cast is a lively mix of personalities: Alexandra Shipp and GaTa as Claudia and Pete, the soon-to-be-wed siblings whose romance ties both families together; Hadley Robinson as Bea’s sister Halle, caught between wedding plans and sibling drama; and Michelle Hurd and Bryan Brown as Claudia and Pete’s grounded, often exasperated parents. Dermot Mulroney and Rachel Griffiths round out the family chaos as Bea’s parents, Leo and Innie, each meddling in her love life in ways only movie parents can.
