Academy Award-nominated actress Taraji P. Henson has joined a two-film deal with Netflix. As per Deadline, Henson will be appearing in two films that will be released on the streaming platform. She will also produce these films under their production company, TPH Entertainment. The makers are expected to reveal more information about these two films.
Henson's tryst with Netflix began with the 2025 psychological drama thriller Straw, written and directed by Tyler Perry. It met with a positive critical response and received around 106.3 million views.
In an official statement, Henson said:
“Partnering with Netflix on this two-picture deal is an exciting new chapter for me. I’ve always believed that storytelling has the ability to inspire, heal, and celebrate our shared humanity. With a partner like Netflix, I have the opportunity to do that on a global stage. I’m grateful for their trust in me as we start this new journey together.”
Taraji P. Henson has served as an executive producer to films like 2014's No Good Deed, 2018's Proud Mary, 2019's What Men Want, and 2023's Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project.
Besides being an actress, Henson has also penned a memoir called Around the Way Girl, which was published in 2016. It became a New York Times bestseller. She has also lent her voice to a track in the film Hustle & Flow. Since then, she has appeared in several music videos.
Henson started by playing the role of Tammy in 1998's Streetwise. She then went on to star in The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, I Can Do Bad All by Myself, The Good Doctor, and The Best of Enemies, among others.
