Taylor Swift opened up about one of the most intimate moments in her relationship with Travis Kelce: the night he proposed. During her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, October 6, she discussed her latest album The Life of a Showgirl. The conversation soon shifted when Fallon congratulated Taylor Swift on her engagement to the Kansas City Chiefs star, marking two years since they began dating. When Fallon brought up the timing of the proposal, which came shortly after Taylor Swift recorded an episode of Kelce’s New Heights podcast, the singer shared,
“I think, for Travis, the podcast was just sort of a distraction, sort of ruse, to keep me not looking out the windows of the house. Every time he does the podcast, it’s not like he blacks out all the windows.”
But before Kelce got down on one knee in what she described as a “lavishly decorated backyard,” Taylor Swift noticed something different.
“There were fully, like, blackout drapes on every single window of the whole house,” she recalled.
By then, the singer said she could sense that something special was about to happen.
“I kinda realized that he’s walking around sorta nervous about the podcast, [saying], ‘My heart is racing. … I know how much this means to you. I just really want this to be what you’d hoped it would be.’ Because we’d been talking about doing the podcast and announcing the album. And he’s like, ‘My heart’s just racing.’ I’ve never seen this dude nervous. Ever. He’s professionally not a nervous person.”
Kelce eventually asked,
“Do you wanna go and just walk around the backyard and have a glass of wine?”
Swift replied,
“I’m always gonna wanna do that.”
That was when it all clicked.
“I realized why all the windows were curtained and why he was nervous, it was the best possible-case scenario,” she shared.
Taylor Swift admits Ed Sheeran learned about her engagement through Instagram:

Us Weekly reported that Taylor Swift had fans laughing when she admitted on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that Ed Sheeran discovered her engagement online and not from her directly. During a playful bit where Fallon quizzed her about the truth behind several recent rumors, Swift confessed, “That’s so true,” before breaking into laughter and covering her face.
“I have a perfect explanation! … He doesn’t have a phone,” she explained.
Swift described the quirk as something she deeply admired.
“It’s one thing I love about him. It’s very eccentric. Love it, but when I’m going through [my contacts, deciding] who we should call, who we should FaceTime, I’m going through my texts and being, like, ‘Who have I texted within the last month of my life?’ And he just wasn’t there.”
Swift said she felt terrible once she realized what had happened.
“When the news came out, I was like, ‘Oh my God, we forgot to call Ed!’”
Taylor Swift dispels the rumor about turning down the Super Bowl Halftime show:

As Variety reported, Taylor Swift finally cleared the air about why she isn’t performing at the Super Bowl, and it had nothing to do with creative control or footage rights. During one of Jimmy Fallon’s popular games, Swift was asked to confirm which of five internet rumors about her were true. The first claimed she had declined the halftime show because she wouldn’t own the performance footage. On the televised version, she simply made a face and stayed quiet.
But the expanded interview, posted later on The Tonight Show’s social platforms and website, showed a different story. Swift took her time explaining that she’d never actually received an official invitation. After flatly denying the rumor with a “No,” she said her management had only fielded general questions from Roc Nation, the company that curates Super Bowl entertainment, and not a concrete offer.
She added that, even if an invitation had come through, she wouldn’t have said yes, not while her fiancé, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, could be in the game. “I’d be too focused on him to even think about performing,” Swift explained, clarifying that halftime performers are chosen long before the final teams are known.

“I brought this into the studio and I was like, ‘I wanna sort of do a throwback kind of timeless sounding song, It really started out in a very innocent place. I dunno what happened, man, once I got in there, we started vibing and I don’t know,” shared Swift.
