Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement has sparked countless headlines, but some of the most charming reactions came not from celebrities or fellow athletes, but from their hometowns’ official social media accounts.
Cleveland, Ohio, where Kelce was born and raised, weighed in first, keeping its tone light and playful. The city’s official X (formerly Twitter) page posted:
"Local man and his new fiancée stun in engagement pics."
Not long after, Reading, Pennsylvania — Swift’s hometown — joined in with its own tongue-in-cheek response, quoting Cleveland’s post with:
"Local woman and her new fiancée stun in engagement pics."
The witty back-and-forth delighted fans, who praised the cities for their civic humor and hometown pride.
"Someone give those interns a raise," an X user wrote.
"Real recognizes real," another commented.
"They so real for this," one responded.
"I love when social media managers do this, they are treating it like a royal wedding," a fan tweeted with laughing emojis.
"It’s a royal wedding EVERYWHERE," an online user said.
"Thats cute as hell," another fan posted.
Meanwhile, one went on to discuss the couple's engagement rings: "How bout that ring? - Designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry, with input from Travis Kelce. - Features an Old Mine Brilliant Cut diamond, rectangular with antique references. - Set in a vintage-inspired gold band with delicate, Victorian-era decorative gold work. - Estimated cost: $750,000 to $1 million, per jewelry experts."
In a joint statement on August 26, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement, featuring a carousel of images from their dreamy, bloom-strewn proposal setup. Swift wrote in the caption:
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
In one photo, Kelce is down on one knee before the songstress, his hands resting on her waist as she cups his face.
Taylor Swift to release The Life of a Showgirl in October
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's engagement news comes after the pop star announced her forthcoming 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.
Earlier this month, Taylor Swift appeared on her beau and his brother Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast, where she revealed the cover art for her much-anticipated music project.
During the episode, she explained that the new album was inspired by the joy she felt during her Eras Tour.
“This album is about what was going on behind the scenes of my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant."
She added:
“It just comes from the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life, and so that effervesence has come through on this record. And like you said, bangers."
The Life of a Showgirl is set for release on October 3.
