Teddi Mellencamp is giving fans an update on her struggles with stage 4 cancer.

During the Wednesday, July 23 episode of her podcast Two Ts in a Pod with Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum got candid about her ongoing treatment to combat the ailment. She said that her body is responding positively to immunotherapy, with the remaining tumors in her brain and lungs either shrinking or disappearing altogether.

However, her update comes on the heels of her July 17 interview with Glamour, where she slammed her doctors for failing to perform scans on her when she was diagnosed with stage one melanoma, back when she just discovered a patch of cancerous cells on her shoulder.

“When you go to a doctor, you just assume that’s it. I’m doing what I’m supposed to do. At first, I didn’t even really do the research on melanoma because I didn’t want to know all of the bad things. But there’s a difference between self-diagnosing yourself and being an advocate for your own health.”

She continued,

“I never really thought about it because I was like, ‘I go to a doctor every three months. Why wouldn’t they get me checked?’ My highest melanoma on my shoulder was stage one. When I finally followed up on it, they were like, ‘We didn’t do the scans, because you didn't have anything above a stage one on your body.’ But look what happened," she told Glamour.

During the Wednesday, July 23 episode of her podcast Two Ts in a Pod with Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge, Teddi Mellencamp gave fans an update on her treatment:

"Essentially, I haven't been feeling good for about a month, which was kind of shocking to me, and I think, mentally did a lot to me," said.

She said she could barely "keep her words straight" or her eyes open, before adding,

"We're going to take a little break on the immunotherapy to get my body back feeling stronger."

Teddi Mellencamp, who shares three kids with Edwin Arroyave: Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, 5, said that her divorce proceedings are ongoing as she tackles her treatment on the side.

"I've never in my adult life been in a situation where I'm like, 'Gosh, I can't do this right now.' I can't stay up that extra hour and put my kid to bed tonight, I can't go to my daughter's horse show, or oh my gosh, I'm going to have to miss Cruz's practice. I've never once felt that way until recently, and it's heartbreaking," she said of how her ailment has impacted her bond with her kids.

Teddi Mellencamp has reportedly undergone 17 surgeries since she was diagnosed in 2022 to extract the melanoma spots. However, in February this year, it was discovered that the cancer had metastasized to her brain and lungs, prompting a change in the course of treatment: chemotherapy and immunotherapy.

During her interview with Glamour, she had a single advice for everyone out there faced with uncertainties:

"Trust your gut instinct. There was a long time that I wasn't feeling well and didn't go to the doctor. I thought I had migraines, I thought I was going through menopause. I had self-diagnosed myself with 500 things."

Teddi Mellencamp told Glamour:

"It’s really being an advocate for yourself and your health if you’re not feeling good."

The reality star has been consistently sharing updates with her fans via social media, both in terms of treatment and the emotional toll it has taken on her. Per The Blast, her father has been by her side through it all, and just this March, when she underwent surgery to extract the tumors in her brain, John Mellencamp was by her bedside the entire time.

In a podcast episode from April, she recalled a discussion she had with her dad about her end-of-life care and how she wanted to be buried. She said her dad offered to leave space for her three children in the mausoleum, so that they could be reunited in death. However, she recounted ending the conversation on a lighthearted note and plans to engrave “hot girls never die” on the tombstone.

In the meantime, as she recuperates, Teddi Mellencamp is swimming and going for relaxing walks, even if she doesn't have the strength for it, per People magazine:

“Before, I was so physically fit, I could run a marathon without training. They’d be like, ‘Do you want to run a half-marathon tomorrow?’ And I’d be like, ‘Yeah, sure.’ Now I don’t have as much physical strength as I used to,” she said. “I’ll be trying to open a tea and can’t and it’ll frustrate me. I’m just trying to give myself a little grace.”

She added,

“For whatever reason, being in water and being able to have fresh air have been two major things."
