Katie Thurston is responding to an old Bachelorette face with a mix of humor and grace.

In an Instagram Story on Wednesday, August 6, the 34-year-old posted a photo of Cody Menk from her 2021 season, writing:

“Remember this guy from my season? Me either. But he’s still here lurking on my page.”

Paired with a kissing emoji, she ended her post with:

“Thanks for being a fan.”

Katie Thurston also shared the reason for her post: a comment Menk allegedly left on the April wedding announcement for her and comedian Jeff Arcuri:

“Good couple! Both solid 5s.”

But rather than dwell on the remark, Thurston highlighted her relationship instead.

Hours later, she reposted a clip from her and Arcuri’s Off the Vine podcast appearance, adding the caption:

“I hope you all find a @jarcuri in your life.”

"I'm very optimistic": Katie Thurston talks about stage 4 breast cancer and staying hopeful

Since her time on reality TV, Katie Thurston has been open about her breast cancer diagnosis.

Speaking with Kaitlyn Bristowe on the July 29 episode of Off the Vine, the Bachelorette alum shared how this year has been a mix of milestones and challenges.

Nevertheless, she shared her optimistic outlook on treatment.

“My hope for the future is that, whether it’s this year or next year, I’ll be like, ‘Hey, guys, there’s no evidence of disease.’”

She went on:

“Even though technically, stage IV is not curable. Technically, medically, I will have breast cancer forever. But with so much advancement happening and the way that I caught it when I did, I’m very optimistic.”

Katie Thurston added that she takes “four pills every day” and gets a monthly shot to suppress her ovaries, which could make in vitro fertilization possible in the future.

“Chemo is not just a one-size-fits-all [treatment]. With the type of cancer I have and because it’s stage four, I don’t know how to better describe it but [it’s] like ‘maintenance.’”

Meanwhile, she revealed that memory loss has been “probably the hardest” side effect, as it can make arguments or even work tasks tricky.

Katie Thurston also recalled telling her husband in one disagreement that is has happened before, only to remember the example days later.

“I literally can’t remember, but I promise you it has.”

Further, with no family history of breast cancer, Thurston is urging self-advocacy. She explained that her lump was painful, a symptom she initially dismissed after reading online that cancer lumps don’t hurt.

“I want people to take their health seriously and be confident enough in how to have these conversations with their doctor."

The Bachelorette star continued:

"I think that will potentially save their life versus waiting until they’re 40 for their first ever mammogram.”
