Joshua Jackson, who is gearing up for the release of his new movie, Karate Kid: Legends, sat down for an interview with People Magazine, where he revealed that he made the mistake of bringing his five-year-old daughter on set. He said:

"That was really dumb."

The new Karate Kid: Legends releases on 30 May and stars an ensemble cast that includes Joshua Jackson, Jackie Chan, Ralph Macchio, and several other new actors.

More from the interview with Joshua Jackson, as the actor reveals a story about bringing his daughter to his movie set

Joshua Jackson, in his exclusive interview with People Magazine, explained that his daughter, Juno, whom he shares with ex-wife Jodie Turner-Smith, came to visit him on set in Montreal, where the shooting of the movie was taking place. He said:

"She came out to visit Montreal for five, six days because my brother lives up there, it was a family trip and I brought her on set the day that we were doing the fight scene."

Jackson then added why he now thinks bringing his daughter to the set was a bad idea. He went on to explain that his five-year-old daughter was not happy to see her father get beaten up while performing the stunts in the movie. He said:

"She did not like seeing her dad get beat up. So I don't think I'll watch it with her in the theatrical run, but within a couple years I think we'll be okay."

The Dawson's Creek actor further added that the decision was indeed not the best, but it was the first time she came to visit him at his place of work. He said:

"[It was] really stupid thing. That was the first time I'd ever brought her to work."

He further gushed about Juno graduating from transitional kindergarten as he revealed her plans for the upcoming summer holidays. He said:

"She graduates from school or from [Transitional Kindergarten] TK in a couple of weeks, and then we got some summer camp and we'll figure it out after that."

Jackson also talked about how he had to gain weight to prepare for his role. He said:

"I walk around at 175. I was almost 195 for the film," he shared on television earlier the same day, noting: "It was harder than I thought it was going to be. I was eating 4,000 calories a day."

Joshua Jackson, who plays Victor Lipani in the upcoming Karate Kid movie, added that gaining weight was the most difficult part of the movie for him.
