People We Meet on Vacation makers talk about featuring Taylor Swift's song

People We Meet on Vacation features a scene set to Taylor Swift's song "August." In a recent Deadline interview, director Brett Haley and author Emily Henry spoke about it. Haley said,

"The August song was something that I knew I wanted. It's my favorite Taylor Swift song hands down and I knew that I wanted it. We, even on set, were playing it during the sequence so that the steady-cam operator could time it up."

The scene was used for an entry scene for Poppy Wright. Henry explained,

"That is Poppy. That's her last year. Yeah Her exact fear is I'm not actually the one. I'm just this summer thing."

Henry then revealed that he initially wanted to put two Taylor Swift songs in the scene. The other one was Clean. But they soon realized that August was fitting the scene.

Haley added,

“August being summer. That was very particularly designed to that song. I remember my music supervisor being like, ‘Please don’t use it on set if you have to, because I don’t know that we’ll be able to get it.’ I was manifesting it and Taylor, thankfully, was so kind to us. We’re so proud of it in the film.”
