Madi Prewett became known to the public after appearing on The Bachelor. Since then, her life has taken a new direction. Now, a wife as well as a mother, her marriage to Grant Troutt has changed how she views herself, her faith, and her daily life.

Prewett and Troutt started dating in 2021. They got engaged in August 2022 and married just a few months later.

Now, after three years of marriage and with a baby daughter, Prewett is talking openly about what she has learned. On her Stay True podcast, she shared how marriage has challenged and helped her grow in new ways.

Madi Prewett learning her role as a wife

Madi Prewett disclosed that one of the biggest lessons she learned was how to be a "submissive wife," acknowledging her initial struggle with it. She admitted it took time to adjust to a new role in marriage. She stated,

“I learned a lot about being a submissive wife, which was a challenge for me at first. Now, it’s, like, my favorite thing. I love talking about submission.”

She also talked about how difficult the early days of marriage were. Prewett elaborated that marriage shed light on struggles she thought she had already worked through, adding,

“Our first six months of marriage was really challenging and hard.”

As old issues returned and forced her to reflect, prayer became an important part of their relationship. Prewett emphasised that praying together "totally shifted everything," and helped them stay connected. She said,

“Praying together was very unifying and helped us fight spiritual warfare.”

She believes their faith helped them stay strong when things felt difficult. She also reflected on learning not to always fight to win arguments, adding,

“Fight to unite and not be right.”

On the contrary, Prewett confessed that at the beginning of marriage, she struggled with this mindset.

“I just wanted to be right all the time. It was my way or the highway.”

Over time, she learned to slow down and let go of pride.

Faith, engagement struggles, and daily life as a wife

Madi Prewett also shared how her purity commitment became harder during engagement. She and Troutt chose to wait until marriage to have s*x. Once they were engaged, the temptation became stronger. She said,

“A ring being on my finger was, like, ‘Man, it almost feels like we’re married’.”

She gave advice to other engaged couples, stating,

“To all engaged couples listening to this podcast, put up the extra boundaries and have your accountability partners.”

Revealing how their engagement was challenging in several ways, Prewett also shared some details about their personal lives. Their engagement was short and emotional. At the time, Troutt’s grandmother passed away, and Madi Prewett added that a lot was happening at once. She explained that it was a stressful season. Still, they stayed focused on their future together.

“The world thought we were crazy. Maybe we were a little bit, but also we were just so excited to get married.”

After their marriage, Madi Prewett had strong expectations about what daily life would look like. She thought they would pray together every morning, but that did not happen. She explained,

“He’s like, ‘No, I’m going to the coffee shop, and I’m having my quiet time. You get alone with the Lord [and] I get alone with the Lord.’ I just learned, ‘Wow, I can’t try and get what only God can give me from [my husband]. I have to get this from God first.”

She also said that marriage taught her humility. Through prayer, she realized she still had personal work to do, further reiterating that change did not come easily.

Madi Prewett summed up her experience by saying,

“Marriage is the most beautiful, humbling, refined wild adventure and best friendship.”

For her, marriage brought change, growth, and a deeper sense of purpose.
