Samo Lives will chronicle the life of American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. The forthcoming biographical drama is helmed by Julius Onah, who has written the script with Peter Glanz. Its official synopsis, as per IMDb, is:

A vibrant portrait of Jean-Michel Basquiat, the NYC artist who revolutionized 1980s art. From street graffiti to gallery stardom, his bold Neo-expressionist works left an indelible mark on the art world and beyond.

Recently, it's been reported that The Boys actor Antony Starr will be appearing in the film. He will play the role of artist Andy Warhol. Let us explore all the details about the film.

Antony Starr to appear in Samo Lives

Antony Starr, known for his role as Homelander in The Boys, will be starring in Samo Lives. The actor will be portraying artist Andy Warhol and has transformed himself physically to fit the part. It's shooting officially wrapped this month.

The film is produced by Julius Onah, Rob Feng, John Baker, Eric Ro, Charles D. King, and James Lopez under the production banners of Fifth Season, Macro Film Studios, and Ossetra Films.

Warhol was a visual artist, filmmaker, and producer. Some of his popular paintings include 1962's Campbell's Soup Cans and Marilyn Diptych. He also wrote, produced, and directed the 1989 film Blue Movie. Both Warhol and Basquiat met in 1982 and teamed up for more than 150 artworks. Warhol passed away on February 22, 1987, at the age of 58, post undergoing a gall bladder surgery. Basquiat passed away a year later due to an overdose.

"I love this show. And I love this character. Truly. I will dearly miss heading to work, knowing what we were aiming for but never knowing where we would find ourselves by the end of the day…only that we would have fun and it would be creatively rewarding in the extreme. This complicated character allowed the space and range to discover and push boundaries in a way I never expected and I will always be grateful for this experience."
