The haunted doll Annabelle from The Conjuring franchise has been a staple of pop culture for years. People who are into horror films and paranormal stories are particularly intrigued by this allegedly possessed doll. It gained significant traction after the release of the James Wan horror film.
The haunted doll tour was put on hold after paranormal researcher Dan Rivera passed away on July 13 this year, right after finishing a part of the tour called Devils on the Run Tour. Right after his demise, the tour was put on hold.
Nearly three months after that incident, the tour resumed nearly three months later.
The Conjuring Annabelle doll tour has resumed
The Conjuring film features a possessed Annabelle doll, which is based on a real-life doll. A public tour had been going on related to this doll, which was put on hold after the death of Dan Rivera on July 13, 2025. He passed away in his hotel room while he was at the end of the Devils on the Run Tour in Pennsylvania with that doll.
His death was ruled out as "cardiac-related" and Rivera had earlier heart-related problems. Recently, paranormal investigator Ryan Buell took to Instagram to announce that the tour has resumed. Sharing a video of a covered box, he wrote: "Annabelle is now being transported to Illinois."
The caption read,
"#Annabelle is once again on the move. The doll, and other items from the Warrens Occult Museum, are en route to Rock Island, Illinois. This is the second-to-last stop."
This means that fans will be able to experience the Annabelle tour once again. The doll has been taken out of the Warrens Occult Museum, where it was placed for several years. In the video, the doll is covered with a black piece of paper. After Rivera's death, Buell took to X to share his condolences as the two had worked together.
"I am utterly heartbroken and sad to write that Dan Rivera, the lead investigator for the New England Society for Psychic Research - NESPR has passed away unexpectedly this weekend. I have so many amazing memories with this guy. Just as recently as two months ago, we traveled around the country and introduced a whole new generation to Ed & Lorraine Warren's legacy."
He added that Rivera was with Lorraine Warren in her final years.
"Dan helped Lorraine during her final years and devoted his time, passionately, to keeping Ed & Lorraine's legacy alive."
The news comes just a month after the release of The Conjuring: Last Rites, which was released on September 5, 2025. The film is directed by Michael Chaves and focuses on Ed and Lorraine Warren's tryst with the Smurl haunting case. It was dedicated to Dan Rivera as the handler of the reportedly possessed doll. The film is reportedly the last installment of the franchise.
The doll was significantly featured in the 2013 film The Conjuring, which kick-started the universe. Its spin-off and sequel, titled Annabelle, revolved around the origin of the doll.
