The Conjuring: Last Rites official trailer runs for two minutes and 25 seconds. The storyline takes place in 1986, Pennsylvania, and showcases the last paranormal case helmed by Ed and Lorraine Warren. We see that a family of eight is experiencing supernatural entities inside their house. One person is heard telling the news reporter, "Eight people have experienced this. Eight people are not crazy."

Later on, Lorraine tells Ed that there is an evil inside the house, something that she has felt before. She eventually tells the family members that it's the same demon they had first encountered. The trailer then showcases the Warrens facing off against this past evil. The paranormal presence has a direct link to when the Warrens were young and ran away from home. The film's tagline reads, "Discover why this case ended it all."

The film is based on the real-life incident of the Smurl haunting, where Janet and Jack Smurl claimed that a demon was living in their house between the years of 1974 and 1989. The case was widely reported in the media around that time and even inspired a book and a TV movie called The Haunted.

The Conjuring: Last Rites is produced by James Wan and Peter Safran under their banners, Atomic Monster and The Safran Company, along with New Line Cinema. Wan, David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick has written the story. David has co-written the story with Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing.

Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are reprising their roles as Lorraine Warren and Ed Warren, respectively. Other cast members include Mia Tomlinson, Ben Hardy, Steve Coulter, Rebecca Calder, Kíla Lord Cassidy, Elliot Cowan, Shannon Kook, Beau Gadsdon, and John Brotherton.

The Conjuring: Last Rites will release on September 5, 2025.
