Sophie Turner talks about on-screen romance with Kit Harington for The Dreadful
Sophie Turner and Kit Harington played brother-sister in the HBO television show Game of Thrones. The duo has collaborated again for the forthcoming gothic horror film The Dreadful. She recently appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers, where she spoke about the awkward romance with Harington. She said,
“I’d just got the script for this amazing gothic horror called The Dreadful, and I was reading through all the characters and I’m producing it, so the director was asking me, ‘Who do you think?’ And immediately, the first person I thought of was Kit."
She added,
“And so, I sent the script to Kit, and he kind of sent me a message back going like, ‘Yeah, I’d love to, but this is going to be really f***ing weird, Soph.’ And I was like, what is he talking about? Then I was reading it, and I’m like, ‘Kiss, kiss, s*x, kiss, s*x scene.’ And then I’m like, oh shoot, that’s my brother. But it’s such a good script that he’s like, ‘We kind of have to do it.'”
Turner then said that the kissing experience with Harington was vile.
"So, then we put it out of our minds, and then we get on set, and it’s the first kissing scene. And we are both retching, like really, it is vile. It was the worst, another really bad moment in my career.”
Turner has co-produced The Dreadful with Luke Daniels, Patrick Hibler, Patrick Muldoon, and Greg Lauritano under the production banners of Black Magic, Redwire Pictures, and Tunnel Storyboard Media. Besides Turner and Harington, the film also stars Marcia Gay Harden, Laurence O'Fuarain, and Jonathan Howard, among others. The makers are yet to reveal the film's release date.
In Game of Thrones, Turner and Harington played siblings Sansa Stark and Jon Snow, respectively. The series had eight seasons, and it ran between 2011 and 2019. Its final season received mostly mixed to negative reviews.
