PETA has called on Sean Evans' Hot Ones show to make vegan wings its default option.

The show is most known for its host, Sean Evans, bringing on celebrities and having them munch on spicy chicken wings in various flavors. However, as reported by Pop Crave on X, PETA is slamming the show for the idea and is instead proposing that it switch to vegan alternatives.

The news is faring poorly on X, where scores are pointing out that the show does have vegan options for those who want it. Here's how one user reacted, for instance:

"The gag is they always had a vegan option. PETER just like harassing ppl for attention. There’s literally bigger fish to fry and they worried about some damn hot wings."

The comments didn't end there:

"At this point just skip the wings and have them down hot sauce straight from a shot glass," one user quipped.
"they're trying to make hot ones mild ones lol. sean evans didn't build an empire of pain just to serve spicy cauliflower," another remarked.
"Tell me how that makes sense. You'll have a vegan option that looks like a wing, which is the very thing you oppose? Make it make sense," someone else weighed in.
"I like most of what peta does, but omg sometimes they’re so annoying like…?" a fourth user pointed out.

See how the rest of X is reacting:

"Like peta girl mind ya business," someone jokingly demanded.
"Stop trying to ruin everything PETA. Next you'll try to make hot dog eating competitions use tofu sausages," one more asserted.
"Imagine attacking organizations that only want to stop the suffering," a user defended the organization.
"This would change absolutely nothing. lol If it's merely an option than the guest could request real ones. Just like guests can request vegan ones now. So it literally makes so sense to change it other than wanting to do surface level lip service," yet another chimed in.

Users were visibly disappointed with the idea, with many of the PETA supporters also pointing out that such a measure would be unnecessary.

Read PETA's letter to Sean Evans:

Hot Ones, which was founded and hosted by Sean Evans, has welcomed several notable celebrities, including the likes of Margot Robbie, SZA, Keke Palmer, Conan O’Brien, and more.

According to Dexerto, on Thursday, September 11, PETA’s senior officer of celebrity relations, Nicole Cummins, issued a letter to Sean Evans. In it, she called on him to change the most notable aspect of his show:

“You’ve sat across from some of the biggest names in the world as their eyes watered and their voices cracked from the heat. But nothing on Hot Ones comes close to what chickens endure before ending up on a plate, so we’ve got a hot tip for you: make vegan wings the default,” Cummins wrote. “We promise neither your guests nor your viewers will notice the change. But you know who would? Chickens. After all, the only ones who should be suffering for the sake of the show are the guests braving your sauces, not the birds.”

Cummins then shared a graphic description of how modern chicken farms operate, and she even offered to name two chickens after the host: one would be Sean and the other would be Evan. She vowed to “send photos of them living safe, happy lives far from the meat industry.”

As of this writing, the talk show host has yet to acknowledge the letter.
