Directed by Kim Byung-Woo, who worked on the script with Han Ji-Su, the film marks the much awaited return of Kim Da-Mi in the lead role. The story starts with how an ordinary morning between her and her son Ja-In shatters as floodwater swallows their world. Their desperate fight for life unfolds in a sinking apartment building, where every rising inch of water tightens the grip of suspense.

Park Hae-Soo joins the cast as Hee-Jo, a mysterious member of a security team who is on a hidden mission. But his arrival complicates things as Anna has to balance her sacrifice, survival and her love for her son, all at once.

The film was shot over six months between July 2022 and January 2023, capturing both the grand scale of a planet-ending flood and the intimate human struggles inside it. The teaser shows extraordinary visuals: a rooftop standoff, a rocket bound for space and golden fragments that hint at mysteries far beyond Earth.

With Kim Byung-Woo's meticulous storytelling and powerhouse performances from the cast, The Great Flood promises to be a haunting reflection of human sacrifices, environmental panic and the fight to survive when the world is ending.

The Great Flood will be available to stream on Netflix from December 19, 2025.
