The novel was one of the earlier works of Yarros, who has since written several other pieces of literature, including her Empyrean trilogy of romance fantasy novels. Let's explore all the available information about this forthcoming adaptation.

The Last Letter movie rights have been bought by Amazon MGM

Amazon MGM Studios has won the bidding war for The Last Letter. It's a romantic drama novel by Rebecca Yarros. Anna Klassen, who is a journalist turned writer, is currently in talks to join as the film's screen writer. Jeb Brody and Brian Grazer are set to produce it for the Imagine Entertainment banner.

The novel, originally released in 2019, once again hit the bookshelves this year and got a best-selling status. It focuses on an Army veteran who decides to go to a town in Colorado, as he had promised one of his late friends. There, he starts taking care of his friend's sister as well as her two kids. Later in the story, the woman develops strong distrust of him while one of her children gets cancer.

There were several studios involved in the bidding war, including Paramount, Netflix, and Amazon. The latter managed to get the deal done with their offer. As per reports, their price range was around $200,000, along with a purchase tag of $2 million if the project moves into production. Besides these, they also offered a backend profit share.

Yarros will be serving as an executive producer on The Last Letter through her production company, Full Measures. It was recently founded by her and is a hat tip to her debut 2014 novel. Yarros' Fourth Wing series of novels is also up at Amazon to be adapted into a series.

Some of her books include Great and Precious Things, The Reality of Everything, and Reason to Believe, among others. There are multiple book series under her belt, including Empyrean, Flight & Glory, Renegades, and Legacy, among others.

Fans of the book are expected to get excited with this news.
