He said,"I hear there's going to be another movie set in Little Earth. And it's going to star Frodo..and its going to be directed by Gollum and its all about Gollum. Well, I'll tell you two secrets about the casting. There's a character in the movie called Frodo and there's another character called Gandalf. Apart from that my lips are sealed."McKellen was referring to the forthcoming film The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, which is being directed by Andy Serkis. The latter had played the role of Gollum in the original trilogy and has directed titles like Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle and Venom: Let There Be Carnage.The film is produced by Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens. Jackson had directed the first three films as well as the Hobbit trilogy. It was first announced in 2024.Warner Bros.
