Rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs’ sentencing is due on October 3. However, hours before the judgment was scheduled to pass, the hip-hop mogul sent a letter to Judge Arun Subramaniam. In the letter, Combs claims he was responsible for hurting others, and also wrote:

“The old me died in jail and a new version of me was reborn. Prison will change you or kill you – I choose to live. I no longer care about the money or the fame. There is nothing more important to me than my family.”

According to Sky News, his trial spanned over eight weeks at the end of which, Combs was convicted of prostitution charges on two counts in July 2025. Combs wrote to Judge Subramaniam that he would no longer walk away from his wrongdoings. Diddy also mentioned:

“First and foremost, I want to apologise and say how sincerely sorry I am for all of the hurt and pain that I have caused others by my conduct. I take full responsibility and accountability for my past wrongs.”

He also wrote that the last two years had been difficult for him. According to his letter, he had to deeply reflect on himself like never before and admitted that his mistakes came from being selfish.

What did Diddy say about the 2016 CCTV footage?

Diddy also mentioned the 2016 CCTV recording in the letter, which showed him allegedly assaulting Cassie Ventura, as he wrote:

“The scene and images of me assaulting Cassie play over and over in my head daily. I literally lost my mind. I was dead wrong for putting my hands on the woman that I loved. I'm sorry for that and always will be.”

He went on:

“My domestic violence will always be a heavy burden that I will have to forever carry. The remorse, the sorrow, the regret, the disappointment, the shame.”

Further in his letter, Diddy admitted that he felt guilty because he couldn’t forgive others if they had done what he himself had done, like putting his hands on someone’s daughter. He thought he was helping Jane, who is reportedly his ex-partner, and her child, but after hearing her side, he understood how his actions affected her.

He said he was truly sorry and explained that he had lost his way because of intoxicants and living a life of excess. Combs mentioned that he had been taking therapy sessions to become the best version of himself. He wrote:

“For starters, I am now sober for the first time in 25 years. I have been trying my best to deal with my drug abuse and anger issues and take accountability as well as positive steps towards healing.”

What was Diddy’s request for Judge Arun Subramaniam?

In his letter, Diddy asked Judge Subramaniam to have mercy on him, mainly because he has children and a mother. He admitted that he felt he had let his children down as a father. He shared that his own dad was killed when he was only three, so he knew what it was like to grow up without a father. Combs wrote:

“More than anything, I just want the opportunity to return home and be the father that they need and deserve.”

Diddy said he couldn’t change what had already happened, but promised to work on his future. He explained that he wanted to stay drug-free, non-violent, and peaceful. He asked for another chance to be a better father, son, leader in his community, and to live a better life.
