The past and the present meet in the new trailer for I Know What You Did Last Summer

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. return for another chapter of I Know What You Did Last Summer, which brings the past and the present together for yet another suspenseful ride.

The new trailer, revealed by Sony Pictures, shows Julie James and Ray Bronson back to resolve another mystery in Southport. However, this time, it doesn't revolve around them. They are there to help another group of friends who find themselves in a similar situation as they did many years ago.

The trailer shows them getting terrorized by a stalker who knows something they did last summer. A year later, they seemed to have moved on with their lives, hoping for a fresh start. Danica Richards is getting married to Milo Griffin, and on the day of their engagement, she receives a mysterious letter with a threat. It reads:

"I know what you did last summer."

Danica gets worried, and there's a reason for it. Last year, she and her friends saw a car fall off a bridge into the water. They all started freaking out. However, instead of calling the police about this car accident, they decided to shove it under the rug. Judging by the trailer, that doesn't work out well for anyone.

Someone keeps looking to seek revenge for what they did the summer before. All they see is a hooded figure with a hook. So, to save themselves, they seek help from Julie and Ray (the survivors of the 1997 massacre) to get to the bottom of this mystery and save their lives for good. How will they stop it? Directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, I Know What You Did Last Summer, the 2025 slasher film, will be a direct sequel to 1998's I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

It's the fourth film in this franchise, but the third film in the story from the foundational 1997 film. The script is written by Sam Lansky and Robinson from a story by Robinson and Leah McKendrick. Its cast includes:
