Actor John Amos, known for his phenomenal role in the American sitcom Good Times, passed away on August 21, 2024, but the news went viral only two months after his death. His son Kelly Christopher Amos, aka K.C. Amos, shared the news in October 2024.

Reports mentioned the cause of his death as congestive heart failure. However, his passing away became a controversial event as the actor’s daughter Shannon Amos claimed she learned about her father’s death in October 2024 like everyone else.

Shannon had previously claimed that John Amos was a victim of elder abuse at the hands of K.C. Amos or someone else. However, the actor dismissed her claims in a viral video in 2023 and accused Shannon of being the primary suspect if anything similar happened to him.

In a People Magazine exclusive from December 26, 2024, it was mentioned that Shannon hired legal counsel to look into her father’s death after accusing her brother of elder abuse.

However, Kelly responded to his sister’s efforts disregarding the elder abuse claims. He said John Amos led a healthy life till his death. In a statement to the magazine outlet, Kelly mentioned:

“Let me be clear and transparent. There has been no physical, financial, emotional, psychological elder abuse or neglect committed against my father by me, Gene Brummett or Belinda Foster.”

He continued:

“The reality is that he passed of natural causes at the age of 84 years old. Stop making it more than what it is.”

Kelly also shared that his father chose Centinela Hospital because he trusted the facility and it was the closest one. He added that there was a conversation about informing other family members, but John Amos requested not to contact anyone, so he respected his wishes.

Shannon’s requests to access John Amos’ medical papers are unfulfilled

As per People Magazine, Shannon Amos’ lawyer, James H. Davis III, shared a press release stating Shannon sought details about John Amos’ admission to Centinela Hospital and his condition then. She also wanted information from the LAPD and Adult Protective Services regarding their investigations following her previous complaints.

She had filed an elder abuse complaint in June 2023, but that was dismissed due to lack of evidence. Shannon also alleged that someone falsely claimed to be Amos’ daughter and brought him to the hospital. This person, according to her, was someone other than Kelly.

Despite making three formal requests for her father’s medical records from Centinela Hospital, she did not receive a response. Davis emphasized that the family was determined to uncover the full circumstances of Amos’ care and the events leading to his death.

Kevin Faler, Kelly’s defense investigator and Vice President of Operations at Homeland Security Services, Inc., stated that he has been tracking John Amos’ missing funds and stolen belongings, valued in the millions, across locations such as Colorado, Memphis, New Jersey, and Los Angeles.

Faler emphasized that criminal charges against Kelly in New Jersey were dismissed and described the elder abuse allegations as baseless, asserting that Amos passed away naturally at 84.
