The Woman in Cabin 10 is about a journalist who is invited to be a part of the first voyage of a luxury super yacht called Aurora Borealis, which is owned by a terminally ill billionaire, Anne Lyngstad. The yacht is en route to Norway, where Anne and her husband have a launch planned for a cancer research foundation.

The filming took place on a super yacht named Savannah, which was built by the Dutch company Feadship. A single diesel engine powers the yacht, featuring a battery with a capacity of 1 MWh of energy. Two architectural entities, CG Design and De Voogt Naval Architects, are credited with the design. Savannah features a swimming pool, an underwater lounge, and six luxury suites for guests.

Over the years, the yacht has been bestowed with several awards, including the Exterior Design & Styling Award, Holistic Design Award, and Motor Yacht of the Year.

Speaking to CN Traveler, director Simon Stone said:

“Boats are like prisons and it’s your choice to go out on this thing that is the only structure protecting you from certain death. It is a fortress to protect you, but in the film it becomes a fortress to repress her—we certainly got the feeling of that when we went out.”

In a separate interview, he revealed that during the filming of The Woman in Cabin 10, a team of 60 people was present on the yacht. An additional crew of over 25 people was also present, serving as the staff. Since the yacht has a capacity of around 12-15 people, the team had to adjust to issues of spacing.

The Woman in Cabin 10 is available to watch on Netflix.
